Stabilization for a class of underactuated mechanical systems

IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2003
We study the control problem for a special class of underactuated mechanical systems addressed as nontriangular form underactuated mechanical systems. Specific changes of coordinates are introduced to define this class, which includes many important models of mechanical systems examples.

Class and ideological orientations revisited: an exploration of class-based mechanisms†

British Journal of Sociology, 2013
AbstractStudies of the relationship between class position and political outlooks still only have a limited understanding of the class‐related mechanisms that matter for ideological orientations. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the mechanisms that link class position and left/right and authoritarian/libertarian orientations.

Mechanics, growth, and Class II corrections

American Journal of Orthodontics, 1978
Growth of the orofacial region is quantitatively described by locating the center of mandibular rotation relative to the cranial base. The center of mandibular rotation is positioned by the ratio of vertical facial growth (AFH/PFH) and the direction of condylar growth.

Path Following for a Class of Mechanical Systems

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2013
Path following entails having the output of a control system approach a path and traverse it without a priori time parameterization of the motion along the path. We design path-following controllers for a class of mechanical control systems applicable to closed and nonclosed paths.

AOP as a first class reflective mechanism

Companion to the 19th annual ACM SIGPLAN conference on Object-oriented programming systems, languages, and applications, 2004
AOP is often perceived as a second class reflective mechanism, whereas reflection in OOP is considered first class. However, perceiving AOP as a first class language mechanism is conductive to developing a general AOP model, which can be a basis for an overall theory of AOP. We illustrate this view by comparing AOP with reflection and illustrating that

Position Analysis of a Class of Translational Parallel Mechanisms

International Journal of Robotics and Automation, 2004
The formulation of the forward position analysis of parallel kinematics mechanisms (PMs) is very complex in most cases. The paper proposes a general explicit solution to the problem for a wide class of 3 dof translational architectures, the tetrahedral mechanisms.

The design of a class mechanism for Moby

ACM SIGPLAN Notices, 1999
Typical class-based languages, such as C++ and JAVA, provide complex class mechanisms but only weak module systems. In fact, classes in these languages incorporate many of the features found in richer module mechanisms. In this paper, we describe an alternative approach to designing a language that has both classes and modules.

Class Switch Recombination: An Emerging Mechanism

2005
Class switch recombination (CSR) has been the least well understood of the Ig gene DNA rearrangements. The discovery that activation-induced deaminase (AID) is a pivotal player in CSR as well as somatic hypermutation (SHM) and its variant, gene conversion, represents a sea change in our understanding of these processes.

Singularity-locus expression of a class of parallel mechanisms

Robotica, 2002
In parallel mechanisms, singular configurations (singularities) have to be avoided during motion. All the singularities should be located in order to avoid them. Hence, relationships involving all the singular platform poses (singularity locus) and the mechanism geometric parameters are useful in the design of parallel mechanisms. This paper presents a
