We have documented the action of unequal sister chromatid exchange on antibody genes, and our studies provide the first molecular description of an unequal sister chromatid exchange event. We delineated the sequences that mediate class switch recombination in normal B cells through genomic Southern analysis of five IgG2-producing hybridomas. Successive

The mechanics of a certain class of pumps
Journal of Biomechanics, 1972Abstract A so-called elastodynamic pump has been developed for the purpose of studying flow in a recirculatory system which is intended to simulate certain mechanical aspects of the flow in a human cardiovascular system. It consists essentially of two rubber hemispheroids attached one to each end of a short cylindrical shell to form a compact fluid ...

Anticonvulsant Classes and Possible Mechanism of Actions
ACS Chemical Neuroscience, 2023Epilepsy is considered one of the most common neurological disorders worldwide; it needs long-term or life-long treatment. Despite the presence of several novel antiepileptic drugs, approximately 30% patients still suffer from drug-resistant epilepsy.

Mechanism and control of class-switch recombination
Trends in Immunology, 2002Class-switch recombination (CSR) occurs by an unusual and intriguing mechanism that has not been clearly elucidated as yet. Currently, we know that this mechanism involves recombination between large and highly repetitive switch (S) regions, is targeted by S-region transcription and requires the activity of the newly discovered activation-induced ...

Mechanical decision for a class of integral inequalities
Science China Information Sciences, 2010A class of integral inequalities is transformed into homogeneous symmetric polynomial inequalities beyond Tarski model, where the number of elements of the polynomial, say n, is also a variable and the coefficients are functions of n. This is closely associated with some open problems formulated recently by Yang et al.

Classes and mechanisms of calcium waves
Cell Calcium, 1993The best known calcium waves move at about 5-30 microns/s (at 20 degrees C) and will be called fast waves to distinguish them from slow (contractile) ones which move at 0.1-1 microns/s as well as electrically propagated, ultrafast ones. Fast waves move deep within cells and seem to underlie most calcium signals.

Efficiency Mechanisms for a Class of Blackboard Systems
International Journal on Artificial Intelligence Tools, 1997This paper presents efficient mechanisms for activation, execution and rating that are suitable for use in BB1-style blackboard architectures. We describe a knowledge source compiler that produces match networks and demons for efficient activation and rating while compiling the entire system for increased execution speed.

On a Class of Integral Invariants in Mechanics
Bulletin de la Classe des sciences, 1966Summary. — The integral invariant of the form ∫ φdxdydz associated with the motion of a particle has been investigated. The expressions for φ, in terms of Hamilton-Jacobi characteristic function, has been obtained for the motion of a particle in a potential field as well as that of a charged particle on a steady electromagnetic field.

Statistical Mechanics for a Class of Quantum Statistics
Physical Review Letters, 1994Generalized statistical distributions for identical particles are introduced for the case where filling a single-particle quantum state by particles depends on filling states of different momenta. The system of one-dimensional bosons with a two-body potential that can be solved by means of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz is shown to be equivalent ...

Mechanical generation of robust class hierarchies
Proceedings of TOOLS USA 97. International Conference on Technology of Object Oriented Systems and Languages, 2002Reusability has been the main promise object-oriented programming gave to software developers. However, it turned out that object-oriented programming did not bring up measurably more reuse than modular programming. One reason for this was that inheritance had never been examined in detail which introduced unexpected exceptions.
