Mechanochemical synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry, 2021
AbstractIn the last decades, mechanochemical processing has emerged as a sustainable method for the large-scale production of a variety of nanomaterials. In particular, mechanochemical synthesis can afford well-dispersed metal-oxide nanoparticles, which are used in wide-ranging applications including energy storage and conversion, environmental ...

Turning Water Into a Tool: From Degradation Pathways to Functional Engineering in Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Water exhibits a threshold‐dependent dual role in lead halide perovskites, acting either as a degradation trigger or as a powerful tool for defect passivation, recrystallization, and structural engineering. This review discusses how controlled water‐mediated interactions govern stability, dimensionality, and optoelectronic performance, providing ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Nanocrystalline Hydroxyapatite from Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O, CaO, Ca(OH)2, and P2O5 Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper reports the progress of the mechanochemical synthesis of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite (HA) starting from six different powder mixtures containing Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O, CaO, Ca(OH)2, and P2O5. The reaction kinetics of HA phase formation during high-

Simultaneous Wastewater‐to‐Hydrogen Upgrading via Mechanically Driven Piezocatalysis Over Ag‐ZnO Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezocatalytic strategy enables simultaneous wastewater purification and hydrogen generation by harnessing mechanical energy. Complementary piezo‐induced charges are selectively directed toward oxidation and reduction pathways, achieving efficient pollutant degradation and continuous H2 evolution.

The two-step mechanochemical synthesis of porphyrins [PDF]

open access: yesFaraday Discuss., 2014
Porphyrin synthesis under solvent-free conditions represents the “greening” of a traditional synthesis that normally requires large amounts of organic solvent, and has hindered the industrial-scale synthesis of this useful class of molecules. We have found that the four-fold acid-catalysed condensation of aldehyde and pyrrole to yield a tetra ...

Shear‐Induced Emergence of Aromatic Superlow‐Friction Interfaces in Amorphous Carbon: Triggering Chemical Impurities and Atomic‐Scale Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput quantum‐mechanical simulations reveal that amorphous carbon undergoes shear‐driven structural transformation into aromatic, graphene‐like interfaces. This mechanochemical process is governed by dopant chemistry: dopants with valency less than four promote the emergence of superlow‐friction amorphous graphene, whereas tetra‐valent ...

Expeditious, mechanochemical synthesis of BODIPY dyes [PDF]

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
BODIPY dyes have been synthesized under solvent-free or essentially solvent-free conditions, within about 5 minutes in an open-to-air setup by using a pestle and mortar, with yields that are comparable to those obtained via traditional routes that typically require reaction times of several hours to days.

CO2‐Assisted Hydrolysis of NaBH4: A Multi‐Function Platform for Enhanced Hydrogen Release, Regeneration of NaBH4, and CO2‐to‐CH4 Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CO2 significantly accelerates hydrogen release from aqueous NaBH4 without metal catalysts, eliminating the need for downstream separation. Ball‐milling the hydrolytic products with Mg regenerates NaBH4 with yields exceeding 76% while simultaneously producing methane.
