A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Role of PD-L1 in mediating the effect of lipid on ulcerative colitis: a mediation Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
IntroductionRecent evidence suggests that lipids play a crucial role in intestinal metabolic balance and are closely linked to ulcerative colitis (UC). However, the mechanisms underlying their effects remain unclear.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Health-related quality of life in children born preterm at school age: the mediating role of social support and maternal stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Research on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of school-aged children born preterm (< 37 weeks of gestational age) is scarce and there are few studies examining the relationship with medical and family factors. The aims were to analyze HRQoL in a

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Effects of different types of milk consumption on Crohn's disease and the mediating effects of amino acids: A Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Dietary therapy is a common adjunctive treatment for Crohn's disease (CD). However, previous studies have presented conflicting views on whether dairy products should be included in dietary therapy.

Mediation Analysis with Multiple Exposures and Multiple Mediators

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine
ABSTRACTA mediation analysis approach is proposed for multiple exposures, multiple mediators, and a continuous scalar outcome under the linear structural equation modeling framework. It assumes that there exist orthogonal components that demonstrate parallel mediation mechanisms on the outcome, and thus is named principal component mediation analysis ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A network and mediation analysis on the associations between family environment and suicidal ideation in adolescents in a psychiatric clinical setting

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
BackgroundFamily environmental factors are known to contribute to adolescent suicidal ideation (SI), but how these factors interact and relate to SI needs further investigation.AimsTo examine how family factors interact with each other and are associated

Subgroup Mediation Analysis

open access: yesStat
ABSTRACTImaging genetics–based mediation analysis provides a powerful approach to understanding gene–brain–cognition pathways. However, despite recent progress, several challenges involving group‐level and subject‐level heterogeneity remain largely unaddressed.
