TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Design, Implementation and Testing of Master Slave Robotic Surgical System [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2015
The autonomous manipulation of the medical robotics is needed to draw up a complete surgical plan in development. The autonomy of the robot comes from the fact that once the plan is drawn up off-line, it is the servo loops, and only these, that control ...

Real-time surgical instrument detection in robot-assisted surgery using a convolutional neural network cascade

open access: yesHealthcare Technology Letters, 2019
Surgical instrument detection in robot-assisted surgery videos is an import vision component for these systems. Most of the current deep learning methods focus on single-tool detection and suffer from low detection speed.

Dynamic parameter identification of upper-limb rehabilitation robot system based on variable parameter particle swarm optimisation

open access: yesIET Cyber-systems and Robotics, 2020
To solve the problem of uncertain parameters in dynamic modelling of upper-limb rehabilitation robots, a dynamic parameter identification method based on variable parameters particle swarm optimisation (PSO) is developed.

Fast and Reliable Autonomous Surgical Debridement with Cable-Driven Robots Using a Two-Phase Calibration Procedure

open access: yes, 2018
Automating precision subtasks such as debridement (removing dead or diseased tissue fragments) with Robotic Surgical Assistants (RSAs) such as the da Vinci Research Kit (dVRK) is challenging due to inherent non-linearities in cable-driven systems.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Navigation of mini swimmers in channel networks with magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Controlled navigation of swimming micro robots inside fluid filled channels is necessary for applications in living tissues and vessels. Hydrodynamic behavior inside channels and interaction with channel walls need to be understood well for successful ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
