Megakaryocytic Leukemia in a Dog

Veterinary Pathology, 1978
Most leukemias of dogs involve neutrophilic precursors. Monocytic leukemia is less common and only single cases of basophilic, megakaryocytic and erythroid leukemia in the canine species have been recorded [7]. A case of megakaryocytic leukosis of questionable neoplastic nature in a dog also has been described [lo].

Megakaryocytes in Renal Glomeruli

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1981
Reported are 27 autopsies with significant increases in the numbers of megakaryocytes within the renal glomerular capillary network (P less than 0.001). These were selected from 118 cases in which peripheral vascular megakaryocytosis could be expected preterminally.

ACUTE MEGAKARYOCYTIC LEUKEMIA

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1948
THERE have been many observations in medical literature in which megakaryocytes have been described as a prominent feature in pathologic conditions of the blood. The number of these cells is frequently increased in thrombocytothemia and polycythemia vera.

Immunological face of megakaryocytes

Frontiers of Medicine
Megakaryocytes (MKs), which are traditionally known for their role in platelet production, are now emerging as unique immune cells with diverse capabilities. They express immune receptors, participate in pathogen recognition and response, phagocytose pathogens, contribute to antigen presentation, and interact with various immune cell types.

DISTRIBUTION OF INTRAPULMONARY MEGAKARYOCYTES

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Section A Pathology, 1981
The distribution of intrapulmonary megakaryocytes is equal in healthy persons, but altered in diseased persons, the highest counts being found in superior lobes (p = 0.0027). This may be explained by the altered blood supply to the lungs of diseased persons lying in bed. We recommend that lung sections should be taken from central areas of the superior

The determination of megakaryocyte ploidy

The International Journal of Cell Cloning, 1990
Methods which have been used to determine megakaryocyte ploidy in animals and humans are reviewed. Although the number of megakaryocyte nuclear units counted in bone marrow squashes is roughly proportional to ploidy, accurate determinations of DNA content require the use of microphotometry or flow cytometry.

Megakaryocyte endomitosis: A review

The International Journal of Cell Cloning, 1990
During the early stages of their differentiation, megakaryocytes become polyploid through repeated DNA replication and endomitotic cycles without cytokinesis. The molecular basis for the process of polyploidization remains unknown. This review summarizes available information on the cell biology of the process of endomitosis.

Systems Biology of Megakaryocytes

2014
The molecular pathways that regulate megakaryocyte production have historically been identified through multiple candidate gene approaches. Several transcription factors critical for generating megakaryocytes were identified by promoter analysis of megakaryocyte-specific genes, and their biological roles then verified by gene knockout studies; for ...
