Preparation and Application of Poly(melamine-urea-formaldehyde) Microcapsules Filled with Sulfur
Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 2011Poly(melamine-urea-formaldehyde) microcapsules containing sulfur were prepared by in-situ polymerization. Several preparation parameters of microcapsules were investigated by analyzing the morphology, particle size and encapsulation efficiency. The morphologies indicated that sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS) was a suitable surfactant.

Melamine-urea-formaldehyde impregnated bond paper (MUF) is widely used as panel coating and decorative raw paper. Inappropriate treatment of MUF may lead to environmental pollution. In this study, routine MUF and MUF treated with additional titanium (MUF-T) were subjected to fast pyrolysis, and the product properties at different temperatures were ...

Acidic buffering capacity and curing process of melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin
International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2021Abstract In this work, melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins with different melamine levels added at different stages were synthesized. The acidic buffering capacity and gel time of the MUF resins were measured. The curing behaviour of MUF resins with different acidic buffering capacities was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DCS).

Rheometry of aging of colloidal melamine–urea–formaldehyde polycondensates
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2005AbstractAged and whitened melamine–urea–formaldehyde (MUF) resins in a colloidal state were tested with parallel‐plate rheometry to determine the extent of their viscoelastic behavior. Only in advanced colloidal states, and so only when aggregated colloidal clusters occurred, did the resins present clear indications of viscoelastic responses, as ...

TG-DTA study of melamine-urea-formaldehyde resins
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2008The thermal behaviour of MUF resins from different suppliers with different content of melamine was studied, along with the 13C NMR spectroscopic analysis of resin structure and the testing of particleboards in current production at Estonian PB factory Parnu Plaaditehas AS. The chemical structure of resins from DMSO-d6 solutions was analysed by 13C NMR

Curing kinetics study of melamine–urea–formaldehyde resin
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2011The influence of the preconditioning at different temperatures on the cure kinetics of melamine–urea–formaldehyde resins coated on stone wool was investigated under acidic conditions using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The higher pre-treatment temperature was applied, to which resin-coated stone wool was exposed, the lower was

The Effect of Nanoclay on Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde Wood Adhesives
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2012Abstract In this work it has been shown that the addition of small percentages of Na+-montmorillonite (Na-MMT) and organic modified-montmorillonite (O-MMT) nanoclay to thermosetting melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins appeared to improve, considerably, their performance as adhesives for wood particleboard.

Blocked melamine–urea–formaldehyde resins and their usage in agglomerated cork panels
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2018ABSTRACTCaprolactam and o‐p‐toluenesulfonamide are tested as chain‐growth blockers for melamine–urea–formaldehyde (MUF) resins, in an attempt to reduce the crosslinking density of the cured resin and hence improve its flexibility. Agglomerated cork panels, for which flexibility is a technical demand, were produced with the modified resins and tested ...
