Palm kernel meal as a melamine urea formaldehyde adhesive filler for plywood applications

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2018
Abstract In this work, palm kernel meal (PKM) and palm shell (PS) were studied as a filler for wood adhesive formulations and their efficiency was compared with existing industrial flour (IF). Melamine urea formaldehyde (MUF) was used as resin for formulating the wood adhesives.

High-intensity ultrasound assisted manufacturing of melamine-urea-formaldehyde/paraffin nanocapsules

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2019
Abstract The average diameters of encapsulated phase change materials (PCMs) affect their physical properties. In this study, the effects of the main emulsification variables (ultrasound time and output power of ultrasonic treatment) were explored and then melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF)/paraffin nanocapsules were obtained via an in-situ ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Linseed Oil Microcapsules with Poly(Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde) Shell

2020
In this project, it has been attempted to encapsulate linseed oil by in-situ polymerization as the core of the poly (melamine-urea-formaldehyde) which is capable to be used in smart self-healing coatings. Sodium lauryl sulfate had the role of anionic emulsifier and polyvinylpyrrolidone with molecular mass of 40000 g/mol was used as stabilizer with ...

Comparative Study of the Storage Stability between a Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde and a Urea-Formaldehyde Resin

Forest Products Journal, 2012
Abstract Amino resin wood adhesives used for medium-density fiberboard (MDF), a melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin and a urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin, were each synthesized with an overall formaldehyde/urea molar ratio of 1.10. The storage stability of the resins was monitored by their gel times and viscosity changes, as well as by a ...

Effects of cryogenic temperature on the mechanical and failure characteristics of melamine-urea-formaldehyde adhesive plywood

Cryogenics, 2018
Abstract The present study investigates the applicability of melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin plywood in cryogenic applications, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier insulation systems. Phenolic-formaldehyde (PF) resin plywood has been extensively used as a structural material in industrial applications.

Low addition of melamine salts for improved melamine‐urea‐formaldehyde adhesive water resistance

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003
AbstractThe addition of melamine acetate salts to an adhesive glue mix can allow the use of melamine–urea–formaldehyde (MUF) resins of lower melamine contents (rather than just urea–formaldehyde resins) and lower total amounts of melamine. Performances can be obtained that are characteristic of the top‐of‐the‐line, generally higher melamine content MUF

Speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) by Means of Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde Resin and FAAS

Microchimica Acta, 2001
A method is described for the quantitative preconcentration and separation of trace chromium in water by adsorption on melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin. Cr(VI) is enriched from aqueous solutions on the resin. After elution the Cr(VI) is determined by FAAS. The capacity of the resin is maximal at ∼ pH 2.
