ACTH Prevents Deficits in Fear Extinction Associated with Early Life Seizures
Early life seizures are often associated with cognitive and psychiatric comorbidities that are detrimental to quality of life. In a rat model of early life seizures (ELS), we explored long-term cognitive outcomes in adult rats. Using ACTH, an endogeneous

Melanocortins contribute to sequential differentiation and enucleation of human erythroblasts via melanocortin receptors 1, 2 and 5. [PDF]
In this study, we showed that adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) promoted erythroblast differentiation and increased the enucleation ratio of erythroblasts.

This mini‐review describes the pathophysiology of the disrupted hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis in dogs, and probably cats, with the MDR1 (ABCB1) mutation, ABCB1‐1Δ in dogs and ABCB11930‐1931del TC in cats. Clinical consequences in affected animals are discussed and therapeutic interventions to consider are presented.

Sex-specific phenotypic integration: Endocrine profiles, coloration, and behavior in fledgling boobies [PDF]
The intensity of color expression in animals plays a key role in social environments as a mechanism to signal individual capacities in competitive contests. Selective pressures for resource competition differ at different stages of life and between sexes;

Setmelanotide in Bardet‐Biedl Syndrome: A Case Report
ABSTRACT Setmelanotide is a melanocortin‐4‐receptor agonist used for the treatment of hyperphagia in the genetic obesity syndrome Bardet‐Biedl. Presented is a case of diffuse hyperpigmentation in a patient treated with setmelanotide, which represents the most common side effect of this medication.

[Nle4, D-Phe7]-α-MSH Inhibits Toll-Like Receptor (TLR)2- and TLR4-Induced Microglial Activation and Promotes a M2-Like Phenotype. [PDF]
α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) is an anti-inflammatory peptide, proved to be beneficial in many neuroinflammatory disorders acting through melanocortin receptor 4 (MC4R).
