IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Adenine nucleotide translocator 2 shRNA regulated Bcl-2 family members and disrupted mitochondrial membrane potentials

open access: yes, 2011
Adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT) 2 shRNA regulated the levels of Bcl-2 family members and disrupted mitochondrial membrane potentials to induce apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells. DNA laddering assay: cells were transfected with ANT2 shRNA-1, and then 48

Membrane potentials, oxidative stress and the dispersal response of bacterial biofilms to 405 nm light

open access: yes, 2020
The majority of chronic infections are caused by biofilms, which have higher levels of antibiotic resistance than planktonic growth. Violet-blue 405 nm light has recently emerged as a novel bactericide, but limited studies have been conducted on its ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

The Membrane Potentials of Periderm and Cuticular Membranes

open access: yes, 2002
The membrane potentials of periderm and cuticular membranes were measured with KCl and NaCl solution using Ag/AgCI electrodes. For the electromotive force (emf) measurements, the concentration in both compartments were brought to equilibrium with the 0 ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Stable membrane potentials and mechanical K+ responses activated by internal Ca2+ in HeLa cells

open access: yes, 1983
Stable membrane potentials have been measured with microelectrodes in HeLa cells and their average value (−38 mV) compares well with the Cl− electrochemical potential (−34 mV).
