Identification of Rab30 as a novel regulator of tubular endosomes

open access: yesCell Structure and Function
Tubular-shaped recycling endosomes, known as tubular endosomes, are present in certain types of cells, including HeLa cells, and they regulate the recycling of clathrin-independent endocytosed (CIE) cargo proteins to the plasma membrane.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Therapy-induced senescence in breast cancer: an overview

open access: yesExploration of Targeted Anti-tumor Therapy
Outcomes for women with breast cancer have improved dramatically in recent decades. However, many patients present with intrinsic drug resistance and others are initially sensitive to anti-cancer drugs but acquire resistance during the course of their ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A systematic computational analysis of the endosomal recycling pathway in glioblastoma

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain cancer in adults. The standard treatment is brutal and has changed little in 20 years, and more than 85% of patients will die within two years of their diagnosis.

Network and Evolutionary Analysis Reveals Candidate Genes of Membrane Trafficking Involved in Maize Seed Development and Immune Response

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The plant membrane-trafficking system plays a crucial role in maintaining proper cellular functions and responding to various developmental and environmental cues. Thus far, our knowledge of the maize membrane-trafficking system is still limited. In this

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 3-monophosphate is involved in Toxoplasma apicoplast biogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Apicomplexan parasites cause devastating diseases including malaria and toxoplasmosis. They harbour a plastid-like, non-photosynthetic organelle of algal origin, the apicoplast, which fulfils critical functions for parasite survival.

Controlling Cargo Trafficking in Multicomponent Membranes [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2018
Biological membranes typically contain a large number of different components dispersed in small concentrations in the main membrane phase, including proteins, sugars, and lipids of varying geometrical properties. Most of these components do not bind the cargo.

Trafficking of central opioid receptors and descending pain inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2007
The delta-opioid receptor (DOR) belongs to the superfamily of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) with seven transmembrane domains, and its membrane trafficking is regulated by intracellular sorting processes involving its C-tail motifs, intracellular ...
