Disorder-Induced Microscopic Magnetic Memory [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2005
Using coherent x-ray speckle metrology, we have measured the influence of disorder on major loop return point memory (RPM) and complementary point memory (CPM) for a series of perpendicular anisotropy Co/Pt multilayer films. In the low disorder limit, the domain structures show no memory with field cycling--no RPM and no CPM.

Linear and conformation specific antibodies in aged beagles after prolonged vaccination with aggregated Abeta

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2010
Previously we showed that anti-Aβ peptide immunotherapy significantly attenuated Alzheimer's-like amyloid deposition in the central nervous system of aged canines.

Exercise counteracts declining hippocampal function in aging and Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2013
Alzheimer's disease (AD) afflicts more than 5.4 million Americans and ranks as the most common type of dementia (Thies and Bleiler, 2011), yet effective pharmacological treatments have not been identified.

Education and Message Framing Increase Willingness to Undergo Research Lumbar Puncture: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2020
Reluctance to undergo lumbar puncture (LP) is a barrier to neurological disease biomarker research. We assessed whether an educational intervention increased willingness to consider research LP and whether message framing modified intervention ...

Neuropsychological Decline Stratifies Dementia Risk in Cognitively Unimpaired and Impaired Older Adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2022
ObjectiveValidation and widespread use of markers indicating decline in serial neuropsychological exams has remained elusive despite potential value in prognostic and treatment decision-making.

Endogenous murine tau promotes neurofibrillary tangles in 3xTg-AD mice without affecting cognition

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2014
Recent studies on tauopathy animal models suggest that the concomitant expression of the endogenous murine tau delays the pathological accumulation of human tau, and interferes with the disease progression.

Cathepsin D regulates cerebral Aβ42/40 ratios via differential degradation of Aβ42 and Aβ40

open access: yesAlzheimer’s Research & Therapy, 2020
Background Cathepsin D (CatD) is a lysosomal protease that degrades both the amyloid β-protein (Aβ) and the microtubule-associated protein, tau, and has been genetically linked to late-onset Alzheimer disease (AD).
