Fibrosarcoma of the meninges [PDF]

open access: yesRare Tumors, 2010
Meningeal fibrosarcomas are rare tumors. Only 41 cases have been reported in the literature to date. Primary central nervous system fibrosarcomas are very aggressive neoplasms and have a poor prognosis. Hence they need to be correctly diagnosed.

Clinical, anatomopathological and immunohistochemical findings of a transitional cell carcinoma from nasal cavity, frontal and ethmoidal sinus with meningoencephalic invasion in a dog [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal, 2021
Background: Primary neoplasms of the nasal cavity and sinuses are uncommon in domestic animals, most of which are of epithelial origin, being adenocarcinoma the most common tumor diagnosed in this region.

The meningeal transcriptional response to traumatic brain injury and aging

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Emerging evidence suggests that the meningeal compartment plays instrumental roles in various neurological disorders, however, we still lack fundamental knowledge about meningeal biology.

Associations of pathological diagnosis and genetic abnormalities in meningiomas with the embryological origins of the meninges

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Certain driver mutations and pathological diagnoses are associated with the anatomical site of meningioma, based on which the meninges have different embryological origins.

Morphometrics of the Spinal Cord and Surrounding Structures in Alligator mississippiensis

open access: yesBiology, 2022
Understanding the fluid dynamics of the cerebrospinal fluid requires a quantitative description of the spaces in which it flows, including the spinal cord and surrounding meninges. The morphometrics of the spinal cord and surrounding tissues were studied

Lymphotoxin-alpha expression in the meninges causes lymphoid tissue formation and neurodegeneration

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2021
Lymphotoxin alpha (LTα) plays an important role in lymphoid organ development and cellular cytotoxicity in the immune system. LTα expression is increased in the cerebrospinal fluid of naïve and progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and post-mortem

Translationally Relevant Magnetic Resonance Imaging Markers in a Ferret Model of Closed Head Injury

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
Pre-clinical models of traumatic brain injury (TBI) have been the primary experimental tool for understanding the potential mechanisms and cellular alterations that follow brain injury, but the human relevance and translational value of these models are ...

Dwellers and Trespassers: Mononuclear Phagocytes at the Borders of the Central Nervous System

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
The central nervous system (CNS) parenchyma is enclosed and protected by a multilayered system of cellular and acellular barriers, functionally separating glia and neurons from peripheral circulation and blood-borne immune cells. Populating these borders
