Redox Biocatalysis in Lidocaine‐Based Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvents: Non‐Conventional Media Outperform Aqueous Conditions

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Two hydrophobic DESs, lidocaine/oleic acid and lidocaine/decanoic acid, were utilized as reaction media that were enzyme‐compatible and highly substrate‐solubilizer for carbonyl reduction catalyzed by horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase, focusing on the effect of water contents and on maximizing substrate loadings, which showcases for the first time the ...

TRPM8 Regulates Mitochondrial Ca2+‐Dynamics, Temperature and Endoplasmic Reticulum‐Mitochondrial Contact Points in T Cell [PDF]

open access: yesJ Cell Mol Med
ABSTRACT TRPM8 is a cold temperature‐sensitive and non‐selective Ca2+‐channel. Previously we have observed that TRPM8 is endogenously expressed and affects T cell activation process. Now, we report that TRPM8 regulates functions of mitochondria and ER, two important sub‐cellular compartments.

Ring Formation in Sesquiterpene Synthesis: Biomimetic vs. Non‐Biomimetic Strategies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A short review of cyclase enzyme‐mediated ring formation in sesquiterpene biosynthesis is presented as a prelude to six case studies examining the merits and demerits of biomimetic vs. non‐biomimetic strategies for carbocyclisation in the total synthesis of this iconic natural product class.

Enhancement of Exercise Capacity in the Heat With Repeated Menthol-Spray Application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose Exercise performance is impaired in the heat and a contributing factor to this decrement is thermal discomfort. Menthol-spraying of skin is one means of alleviating thermal discomfort but has yet to be shown to be ergogenic using single spray ...

Nanostructured lipid carriers and natural deep eutectic solvents: a highly advantageous combination for the encapsulation of curcumin

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Curcumin is a naturally derived polyphenol known for its potent biological properties. Its therapeutic potential, however, is hindered by low bioavailability. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) have emerged as advanced delivery systems to overcome such limitations. Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) have garnered attention as

Anterior Nasal Nerves: A Cadaveric Anatomic and Immunohistochemical Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Anterior nasal nerves (ANNs) were identified in all cadavers, with more supplying the anterolateral nasal wall (ALNW) than the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate (IT), between the pyriform aperture (PA) and middle turbinate (MT). Both sensory and autonomic nerve markers were also identified in the ANNs.

Menthol cigarettes and the public health standard: a systematic review

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2017
Background Although menthol was not banned under the Tobacco Control Act, the law made it clear that this did not prevent the Food and Drug Administration from issuing a product standard to ban menthol to protect public health. The purpose of this review
