Stereotactic Implantation of Fetal Mesencephalon
Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 1990Twelve patients with advanced Parkinson's disease have been improved by transplantation of fetal mesencephalon into the caudate nucleus. No immunosuppression had been used. The human allogeneic transplantation window is wide.

CAVERNOUS HEMANGIOMA OF THE MESENCEPHALON
Operative Neurosurgery, 2009Recent advances in microsurgical techniques facilitate surgical resection of brainstem lesions that were previously considered inoperable. In this article we present, for the first time, the tonsillouveal transaqueductal approach to access a progressively symptomatic cavernoma within the depth of the tegmentum of the mesencephalon.A 52-year-old woman ...

Split mesencephalon: Diplomyelia of the basicranium
British Journal of Neurosurgery, 2013We report a novel case of congenitally split mesencephalon, in a 3-year old with hydrocephalus. We speculate that the ontogenetic mechanism is shared with split cord malformations (SCM). Our case adds to the two other cases of basicranial SCM which involved more caudal brainstem.

Medial fetal ventral mesencephalon
NeuroReport, 1997Currently, fetal tissue transplantation into patients with Parkinson's disease utilizes the entire ventral mesencephalon (VM) as donor tissue. However, the resulting mixture of cell types contains a relatively low proportion of therapeutically relevant dopamine (DA) neurons.

Angiography of the Mesencephalon.
Archives of Neurology, 1971This monograph is divided into four sections. The first is a review of previous publications of the "Vessels in the Region of the Mesencephalon" between 1940 and 1968. This is followed by a section devoted to the normal anatomy of the vascular channels in this region and one devoted to a description of the vascular angiographic changes due to tumors in

Spinal Projections from the Mesencephalon in the Toad
Brain, Behavior and Evolution, 1981Mesencephalic cell groups projecting to the spinal cord have been identified by means of the retrograde axonal transport of the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The injections were made either in the cervical or lumbar enlargements of the toad spinal cord.

Midline Rupture of the Mesencephalon
1983A midline rupture of the mesencephalon was found in 3 young males surviving closed head injury for 3-5 days. Other brain damage was relatively mild, but there was brain oedema with signs of herniation. In only one case were there symptoms of a hypothalamic lesion.
