Feeding in golden hamsters, Mesocricetus auratus [PDF]
AbstractSimultaneous cine and electromyographic records of freely feeding, unanesthetized golden hamsters show that their motion and muscular activity during mastication differ from those of albino rats (Weijs, '75). Rats show only propalinal motion while hamsters show lateral translation as well.

Prevention of Clostridium difficile infection in hamsters using a non-toxigenic strain
: The present study aimed to evaluate five non-toxigenic strains of Clostridium difficile (NTCD) in vitro and to select one strain to prevent C. difficile (CDI) infection in hamsters ( Mesocricetus auratus ).

From armadillos to sloths: Patterns and variations in xenarthran coronary anatomy
Abstract Species of the superorder Xenarthra play a vital ecological role in the Neotropics. Despite their evolutionary significance, anatomical studies on their coronary circulation remain scarce. This study investigated the coronary anatomy of 82 hearts from nine Xenarthra species across the Dasypodidae, Myrmecophagidae, and Bradypodidae.

ABSTRACT Seasonal photoperiodic cycles regulate energy rheostasis in many animals. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) and the liver are key metabolic organs that show remarkable plasticity in response to photoperiodic conditions. Prolactin (PRL) and thyroid hormones are endocrine signals that transmit neural‐derived photoperiodic time measurement encoding to ...

Evolution of Acidic Mammalian Chitinase Gene (CHIA) is Related to Insectivory Feeding in Rodents
This study provides the first systematic investigation into the molecular evolution of the acidic mammalian chitinase (CHIA) gene across 37 rodent species with diverse diets. Results demonstrate that the CHIA gene has been lost or pseudogenized in obligate herbivores, while being maintained under purifying selection in chitin‐consuming lineages, with ...
