Met-enkephalin stimulates secretion of ACTH in sheep

Journal of Endocrinology, 1986
ABSTRACT The ability of opioid peptides to affect plasma immunoreactive ACTH concentrations was examined in conscious sheep. Plasma concentrations of ACTH were significantly increased by an i.v. infusion of Met-enkephalin and its analogue (FK-33824).

Avian auditory pathways show met-enkephalin-like immunoreactivity

NeuroReport, 1993
Pathways associated with a recently defined region of the avian auditory thalamus, the shell of the nucleus ovoidalis (Ov), were examined for met-enkephalin immunoreactivity. The presence of enkephalin-like immunoreactive (ELI) perikarya within the medial margin of the inferior colliculus (ICM), afferent to the Ov shell, implicated ICM as a source of ...

Uptake/internalization of met-enkephalin by brain synaptosomes

Life Sciences, 1983
In this manuscript, we provide evidence for the uptake of met-enkephalin by brain neurons. Tritiated met-enkephalin was accumulated by a crude synaptosomal fraction of rat brain, in the presence of peptidase inhibitors. Characterization of this process in striatum and mediobasal hypothalamus showed incubation time- and temperature-dependence and ...

Dopamine receptors regulate Met-enkephalin content in pituitary

Brain Research, 1985
Met-enkephalin-like immunoreactive material (ME-LI) in the neurointermediate lobe of rat pituitary was dramatically altered by the long-term administration of drugs altering dopamine receptor activity. Treatment with the dopamine receptor antagonist haloperidol resulted in significant increases of ME-LI and treatment with the dopamine receptor agonist ...

Striatal met-enkephalin concentration increases following nigrostriatal denervation

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1983
Following specific lesion of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathways in rat brain, striatal met-enkephalin on the lesioned side increased to 245% of that on the non-lesioned side. This increase was evident only after a lag period of 7 days and the increase was maintained for at least 2 months after lesion.

Met-enkephalin levels during PTCA-induced myocardial ischemia

Peptides, 2001
Met-enkephalin (Met-enk) has been demonstrated to modulate myocardial-ischemia mechanisms via the opioid receptors, but no studies are now available on Met-enk levels in the coronary circulation. In this experience Met-enk levels were evaluated in aortic root and in coronary sinus at baseline (T0), during PTCA induced transient ischemia (T1) and during

[Structural organization of [Met]enkephalin and endorphin molecules. I. Theoretical conformation analysis of [Met]enkephalin].

Bioorganicheskaia khimiia, 1990
Using a semi-empirical method, an a priori conformational analysis of the [Met]-enkephalin molecule was carried out. Calculations yielded the values of all dihedral angles of the backbone and side chains of the peptide's forms as well as intra- and inter-residue interaction energies.
