Vitiligo pathogenesis involves a complex interplay of genetic susceptibility, oxidative stress, and autoimmune-mediated melanocyte destruction. While impaired adhesion and defective regeneration contribute to the disease, recent evidence highlights the ...

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

The Myosin light chain 3 (MYL3) gene encodes the ventricular essential light chain isoform, which is an important modulator of sarcomeric myosin cross-bridge kinetics. Variants in MYL3 are a cause of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy

Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

The metabolic footprint of aging in mice [PDF]
Aging is characterized by a general decline in cellular function, which ultimately will affect whole body homeostasis. Although DNA damage and oxidative stress all contribute to aging, metabolic dysfunction is a common hallmark of aging at least in ...

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Genetic predisposition to metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease
The literature review highlights the issue of genetic risk factors associated with the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease. Human genetic examinations revealed 132 genes among which 32 loci are strongly associated with the

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The interplay of mitochondrial dysfunction and altered metabolic pathways in glioblastoma
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive and lethal primary brain tumor, characterized by rapid progression, treatment resistance, and poor prognosis, with a survival rate of less than five years despite advances in medical interventions.
