Beta lactamases mediated resistance amongst gram negative bacilli in burn infection [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological and Medical Research, 2011
Introduction: Burn is one of the most common and devastating forms of trauma. Patients with serious thermal injury require immediate specialized care in order to minimize morbidity and mortality.

Safety and efficacy of a novel drug elores (ceftriaxone + sulbactam + disodium edetate) in the management of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections in tertiary care centers: a post-marketing surveillance study

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2017
Objective: In India, Elores (CSE-1034: ceftriaxone + sulbactam + disodium edetate) was approved as a broad spectrum antibiotic in year 2011 and is used for management of Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamases/Metallo Beta lactamases infections in tertiary ...

Бета-лактамази ентеробактерій: загальна характеристика, механізми та регіональні особливості розповсюдження

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute, 2022
The problem of the formation and spread of resistance to β-lactam antibiotics in clinically significant types of microorganisms is extremely important, since β-lactams traditionally form the basis of the treatment of bacterial infections.

Structural compatibility between β‐lactams and substrate binding pockets of IMP‐1 and NDM‐1 determines the substrate spectrum

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
Chemical structures of three β‐lactam classes and the substrate‐binding pockets (SBPs) of B1 metallo‐β‐lactamases (MBLs) were compared. Structural compatibility between β‐lactams and MBL SBPs correlates with enzymatic activity, providing insights into the substrate spectrum of MBLs and β‐lactam resistance.

Study of biofilm formation and antibiotic resistance pattern of gram-negative Bacilli among the clinical isolates at BPKIHS, Dharan

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2019
Objectives Gram-negative bacilli are the common causative agents for community-acquired, nosocomial and opportunistic infections. The recent upsurge of biofilm, as well as beta-lactamases producing strains, have synergistically led to the extensive ...

Dietary Artificial Sweeteners: From Chemical Transformation in Food to Gut Microbial Processing

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
This review article unites classical and recent findings on the stability of artificial sweeteners in food. The focus is on ten sweeteners approved in the European Union: their chemical stability during processing and storage, individual degradation products, and their interactions with the intestinal microbiota.

Boronic Acid Inhibitors of β‐Lactamases: A Promising Strategy Against Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a critical threat to global health, mostly due to the proliferation of β‐lactamases, a class of enzymes responsible for the inactivation of β‐lactam antibiotics. Among the most promising strategies to restore β‐lactam efficacy is the use of β‐lactamase inhibitors (BLIs), with boronic acid ...

Concomitant detection of biofilm and metallo-beta-lactamases production in gram-negative bacilli

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2013
Carbapenems are mainstay of treating serious multidrug resistant gram-negative biofilm-based infections. However, recent emergence of metallo-beta-lactamases (MbL) producing gram-negative bacilli in different parts of world may be related to gain of ...
