Hierarchical Classification for Predicting Metastasis Using Elastic-Net Regularization on Gene Expression Data [PDF]
Metastasis is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality and remains challenging to detect during early stages. Accurate identification of cancers likely to metastasize can improve treatment strategies and patient outcomes. This study leverages publicly available gene expression profiles from primary cancers, with and without distal metastasis, to ...

Learning a Generative Model of Cancer Metastasis [PDF]
We introduce a Unified Disentanglement Network (UFDN) trained on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We demonstrate that the UFDN learns a biologically relevant latent space of gene expression data by applying our network to two classification tasks of cancer status and cancer type.

Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

Cancer Metastasis Detection With Neural Conditional Random Field [PDF]
Breast cancer diagnosis often requires accurate detection of metastasis in lymph nodes through Whole-slide Images (WSIs). Recent advances in deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown significant successes in medical image analysis and particularly in computational histopathology.

Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be
