Effects and Regulatory Mechanisms of SNAI2 on Malignant Hallmarks of Non-Invasive Breast Tumor Cells

open access: yesZhongliu Fangzhi Yanjiu, 2018
Objective To explore the effects and related mechanisms of SNAI2 on malignant hallmarks of non-invasive breast tumor MCF-7 and T-47D cells. Methods (1) The lentiviral vector was used to screen MCF-7 and T-47D cells with SNAI2 overexpression; (2) The ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Effective second-line treatment with cetuximab and bevacizumab in a patient with hepatic metastases of colorectal cancer and hyperbilirubinemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Irinotecan-based second-line chemotherapy of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) is effective, it might, however, be contraindicated in cases of severe liver dysfunction due to advanced liver metastases.

Antisense oligonucleotide p45Skp-2 suppresses migratory chemotactic and metastasis of oral malignant Burkitt’s lymphoma cell through down-regulation of MTA-1 and induction of E-cadherin mechanism

open access: yesPadjadjaran Journal of Dentistry, 2020
Introduction: Burkitt’s lymphoma is a high-grade B-cell neoplasm and one of the most aggressive malignancies of lymphoid origins which found mainly in the paediatric population. The treatment options of this tumour are still limited.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Coblation for metastatic vertebral disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
PURPOSEPlasma-mediated radiofrequency ablation (coblation) creates a cavity for directed polymethylmethacrylate deposition through molecular dissociation, providing a safe and efficacious cementoplasty for patients with high-risk, painful vertebral body ...

Metastatic mimics on bone scan: “All that glitters is not metastatic”

open access: yesIndian Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 2016
In this pictorial review, cases where benign diseases caused a diagnostic dilemma on bone scan are illustrated. This review highlights the value of correlative imaging- single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (CT), CT, and magnetic resonance imaging in solving the diagnostic problem by exact localization and characterization of ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Revisiting metastatic central nervous system tumors with unknown primary using clinicopathological findings: A single neurosciences institutional study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2019
Background: Metastatic tumors are the most common central nervous system (CNS) tumors wherein the primary site remains unknown in most of the cases. Aim: The study was carried out to evaluate metastatic CNS tumors with unknown primary by using simplified
