Nanoelectronic Detection of Opioids: Machine Learning‐Powered Screening With Carbon Nanotube Field‐Effect Transistor Sensor Array

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A carbon nanotube field‐effect transistor (NTFET) sensor array is constructed to screen different opioids with machine learning models. Codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, and morphine are tested using the NTFET sensor array and classified with both conventional supervised learning models and deep learning models.

Methadone adverse reaction presenting with large increase in plasma methadone binding: a case series

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2011
Introduction The use of methadone as an analgesic is on the increase, but it is widely recognized that the goal of predictable and reproducible dosing is confounded by considerable variability in methadone pharmacokinetics, and unpredictable side effects

Retrospective analysis of low-dose methadone and QTc prolongation in chronic pain patients [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2010
BackgroundMethadone is a synthetic opioid that is widely used for the treatment of chronic pain. The association between methadone treatment and QT interval prolongation or which can lead to torsades de pointes has been confirmed with larger studies on ...

Methadone and edema

open access: yesJournal of Substance Abuse Treatment, 1991
We describe a patient on methadone maintenance who developed distal leg edema after years of treatment. The edema resolved when methadone was discontinued and recurred when it was restarted. This patient is compared to three others reported in the literature who also developed fluid retention shortly after being placed on methadone.

Clinical characteristics of immediate allergic adverse reactions to intravenous amoxicillin‒clavulanic acid in conscious dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Amoxicillin‒clavulanic acid (AMC) is one of the most frequently used antibiotics in small animal practice, and reports on adverse reactions are scarce. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics of immediate allergic adverse reactions to intravenous (IV) AMC in conscious dogs. Methods The medical records of a

Capture of isoflurane from anaesthetised dogs and cats following methadone, medetomidine and ketamine administration

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Volatile anaesthetic agents contribute to climate change, and reducing this impact is a commendable ambition. We evaluated the efficiency of a veterinary capture device for isoflurane (VET‐can/VET‐dock, SageTech Veterinary) in anaesthetised cats and dogs.

Methadone induced hypoglycemia, improved on dose adjustment

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology Case Reports, 2020
There exists reports in the literature that connects opioids with hypoglycemia, primarily methadone. We present a case of new onset hypoglycemia in a patient with end stage renal disease who was chronically on methadone.

Impact of general anaesthesia on immune response to first rabies vaccination in seronegative domestic cats

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Despite common concerns, evidence that anaesthesia impairs vaccine efficacy remains limited. This study assessed the impact of general anaesthesia on the immune response to rabies vaccination in cats. Methods Thirty‐five healthy female cats (6–12 months old) undergoing elective spaying were enrolled.
