pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Adapted Nested Force-Gradient Integrators: The Schwinger Model Case

open access: yes, 2017
We study a novel class of numerical integrators, the adapted nested force-gradient schemes, used within the molecular dynamics step of the Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithm.

An ensemble approach for population mapping via remote and social sensing data fusion: considering building habitability and spatial heterogeneity

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science
Remote sensing-derived building footprint data has been widely applied in population mapping. However, nonresidential buildings typically occupy larger areas or volumes, and obtaining building footprint data with type information is also a great ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

The Gaia-ESO survey: Open clusters as tracers of galactic chemical evolution

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Aims. We investigate the formation and evolutionary trajectory of the Milky Way’s inner and outer galactic regions using stars from open clusters in the Gaia-ESO OC survey. Methods. Using numerical simulations from Chempy, we leveraged Markov chain Monte

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Optimal control and robust estimation for ocean wave energy converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis deals with the optimal control of wave energy converters and some associated observer design problems. The first part of the thesis will investigate model predictive control of an ocean wave energy converter to maximize extracted power.

ESTUDO COMPUTACIONAL DA INFLUÊNCIA DE CO2 NO EMPILHAMENTO-π DE MONÔMEROS DE CORONENO SUBSTITUÍDOS COM ENXOFRE [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
Asphaltenes are complex molecules with a tendency to aggregate. This property can be an issue for the oil industry due to CO2 reinjection into reservoirs to mitigate these gas emissions.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
