Ni/Cu Dual-Catalyzed Propargylation for the Stereodivergent Synthesis of Methohexital. [PDF]
A highly efficient Ni/Cu dual‐catalyzed stereodivergent propargylation reaction is successfully devised, offering a novel approach for the asymmetric synthesis with significant diastereo‐ and enantioselectivities (up to >20:1 dr, >99% ee). This efficient process offers a novel pathway for the stereodivergent total synthesis of Methohexital.

Inactivation of the Phosphatase Activity of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Modulates SIRT3 and Attenuates Experimental Pulmonary Hypertension. [PDF]
Genetic inactivation of the phosphatase activity of soluble epoxide hydrolase prevents the development of pulmonary hypertension in rats, partly through upregulation of SIRT3 expression and decreased cell proliferation and apoptosis‐related proteins. Targeting sEH‐P emerges as a promising therapeutic strategy for pulmonary hypertension.

The human photosensitive epilepsy model for clinical proof-of-principle trials of novel antiseizure medications: 2. Analysis of drug trials and predictive value of the model. [PDF]
Abstract Clinical development of novel antiseizure medications (ASMs) would benefit from an early proof of principle (POP) model. The photosensitivity model, which uses the photoparoxysmal electroencephalographic response (PPR) as a surrogate of seizures, is currently the only human model that allows POP trials of investigational compounds after a ...

Direct Current Auditory Evoked Potentials During Wakefulness, Anesthesia, and Emergence from Anesthesia [PDF]
Direct current auditory evoked potentials (DC-AEPs) are a sensitive indicator of depth of anesthesia in ani-mals. However, they have never been investigated in humans. To assess the potential usefulness of DC-AEPs as an indicator of anesthesia in humans,

Abstract Background and aims Cocaine use disorder (CUD) is a significant public health issue for which there is no Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medication. Drug repurposing looks for new cost‐effective uses of approved drugs. This study presents an integrated strategy to identify repurposed FDA‐approved drugs for CUD treatment.

A systematic review of modified electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) to treat delirium
Abstract Background Delirium is costly for patients, carers, and healthcare systems. In addition, non‐pharmacological and pharmacological management of delirium is challenging. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been proposed and used as an anecdotal treatment of delirium in clinical practice.

Effect of Intravenous Phenobarbital on Left Ventricular Myocardial Contractility Determined by Echocardiography in Children [PDF]
Introduction. Animal studies and rare human studies have suggesteda negative effect of barbiturates on cardiac function. Althoughintravenous (IV) phenobarbital is used routinely in children in theclinical setting, studies in children are lacking.
