Synthesis of (.+-.)-methyl epijasmonate and (.+-.)-methyl cucurbate. [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1987
A novel synthesis of ( ± )-methyl epijasomonate (2) and the first synthesis of ( ± )-methyl cucurbate (4) were achieved starting from 2-allylcyclohexane-1,3-dione (8). The synthetic epimer 2 had a stronger jasmin flavor than the trans-isomer 1 with 95% purity.

Imprinted Genes Impact Upon Beta Cell Function in the Current (and Potentially Next) Generation

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2021
Beta cell failure lies at the centre of the aetiology and pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and the epigenetic control of the expression of critical beta cell genes appears to play a major role in this decline.

Decreased MEF2A Expression Regulated by Its Enhancer Methylation Inhibits Autophagy and May Play an Important Role in the Progression of Alzheimer’s Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles which significantly affects people’s life quality. Recently, AD has been found to be closely related to autophagy.

Co-targeting RNA Polymerases IV and V Promotes Efficient De Novo DNA Methylation in Arabidopsis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM) pathway in plants controls gene expression via cytosine DNA methylation. The ability to manipulate RdDM would shed light on the mechanisms and applications of DNA methylation to control gene expression.

Methyl eucomate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: methyl 3-carboxy-3-hydr-oxy-3-(4-hydroxy-benz-yl)propanoate], C(12)H(14)O(6), is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The mol-ecules are arranged in layers, parallel to (001), which are inter-connected by the O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

DNA methylation age of human tissues and cell types

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2013
It is not yet known whether DNA methylation levels can be used to accurately predict age across a broad spectrum of human tissues and cell types, nor whether the resulting age prediction is a biologically meaningful measure.

Polyphenol-Rich Aronia melanocarpa Juice Consumption Affects LINE-1 DNA Methylation in Peripheral Blood Leukocytes in Dyslipidemic Women

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2021
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is associated with alterations in DNA methylation and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) profile, both modulated by dietary polyphenols.

The MBD7 complex promotes expression of methylated transgenes without significantly altering their methylation status. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
DNA methylation is associated with gene silencing in eukaryotic organisms. Although pathways controlling the establishment, maintenance and removal of DNA methylation are known, relatively little is understood about how DNA methylation influences gene ...

Bismark: a flexible aligner and methylation caller for Bisulfite-Seq applications

open access: yesBioinform., 2011
Summary: A combination of bisulfite treatment of DNA and high-throughput sequencing (BS-Seq) can capture a snapshot of a cell's epigenomic state by revealing its genome-wide cytosine methylation at single base resolution.

Sarcoma classification by DNA methylation profiling

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Sarcomas are malignant soft tissue and bone tumours affecting adults, adolescents and children. They represent a morphologically heterogeneous class of tumours and some entities lack defining histopathological features.
