GUP Effective metric without GUP: Implications for the sign of GUP parameter and quantum bounce
The standard form of generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) predicts that the Hawking temperature is modified near the Planck scale and that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy receives a logarithmic correction, consistent with other approaches to quantum ...

Metric-first & entropy-first surprises
Established idea-sets don't update seamlessly. The tension between new and old views of nature is e.g. documented in Galileo's dialogs and now present in many fields. However the science of Bayesian model-selection has made recent strides in both life & physical sciences, in effect suggesting that we look to models which are quantitatively {\em ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Metric entropy of convex hulls [PDF]
With \(T\) a precompact set, in a separable Hilbert space \(H\), \[ N(T,\varepsilon)= \inf\Biggl\{n: \exists t_1,t_2,\dots, t_n\in T,\text{ s.t. }T\subset \bigcup^n_{k= 1} B(t_k, \varepsilon)\Biggr\}, \] where \(B(x,\varepsilon)\) is the open \(\varepsilon\)-ball centred at \(x\in H\), is called the covering number and the quantity \(\log N(T ...

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Frank Wolfe Meets Metric Entropy
The Frank-Wolfe algorithm has seen a resurgence in popularity due to its ability to efficiently solve constrained optimization problems in machine learning and high-dimensional statistics. As such, there is much interest in establishing when the algorithm may possess a "linear" $O(\log(1/ε))$ dimension-free iteration complexity comparable to projected ...

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

A New Entropy Measure and COPRAS Method for Spherical Fuzzy Sets
One of the best ways to handle the ambiguity and unpredictable nature of decision-making is through fuzzy logic, and one of the most recent developments in this area is the concept of spherical fuzzy sets.
