Microstructure modelling of hot deformation of Al–1%Mg alloy [PDF]
This study presents the application of the finite elementmethod and intelligent systems techniques to the prediction of microstructural mapping for aluminium alloys. Here, the material within each finite element is defined using a hybrid model.

Mechanical Properties of Aluminum-Magnesium Alloy Prepared by Slope Plate Casting Process [PDF]
The present work encompasses the development of microstructure by using cooling plate casting process. This process consists of pouring the molten metal at temperature close to the liquidus line in an inclined cooling plate. The mould and the slope plate

Mg effect on the cryogenic temperature toughness of Al-Mg alloys
In this study, the Mg and temperature effects on cryogenic impact toughness of Al-Mg alloys are investigated. Cryogenic Charpy impact tests are conducted for several Al-Mg alloys: AA5083 (=reference), Al-6 Mg, Al-8 Mg, and Al-8.5 Mg. The temperature range is – 196 ˚C to 100 ˚C.

Hardness, corrosion behavior, and microstructure of Al-Cu-Mg alloy as a function of 0.3 wt.% Zr addition [PDF]
The effect of adding zirconium (Zr) as an alloying element to Al-Cu-Mg alloy on the hardness and corrosion of this alloy was investigated. The hardness and polarization test results of samples treated for various periods by aging at 423.15 K for 3hr ...

Grain refinement efficiency of a new oxide-containing master alloy for aluminium casting alloys [PDF]
In this study, grain refinement efficiency of a new oxide master alloy based on MgAl2O4 was demonstrated on an A357 alloy. The grain size of the reference alloy was reduced by 50-60% with the addition of the master alloy and introduction of ultrasonic ...

Modelling of liquid metal flow and oxide film defects in filling of aluminium alloy castings [PDF]
The liquid metal flow behaviours in different runner system designs have important effects on the mechanical strength of aluminium alloy castings. In this paper, a new model has been developed which is a two-dimensional program using a finite difference ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
