Sexual Abnormalities in an Inbred Strain of Mice
An interesting sexual abnormality was observed in the Little-Murray dilute brown strain of mice. To date this abnormality has been observed in 10 animals, and is evidently hereditary. All the abnormal individuals were descendants of the same pair of mice, the ancestors of which were inbred by brother to sister matings for many generations.

The monkeypox virus (MPXV) has spread to many countries and caused thousands of infections all over the world. This review comprehensively introduces the biology, epidemiological characteristics of MPXV, and clinical manifestations of Mpox. The approaches for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention are also introduced, aiming to improve the general ...

Joint estimation of genetic and parent-of-origin effects using RNA-seq data from human [PDF]
RNA sequencing allows one to study allelic imbalance of gene expression, which may be due to genetic factors or genomic imprinting. It is desirable to model both genetic and parent-of-origin effects simultaneously to avoid confounding and to improve the power to detect either effect. In a study of experimental cross, separation of genetic and parent-of-

Anatomic correlates of strial presbycusis in recombinant inbred mouse strains [PDF]
This project attempts to identify anatomic features that predict the range of the ‘normal’ endocochlear potential in young inbred mice. Cochlear lateral wall histologic metrics were compared in recombinant inbred (RI) mouse strains formed from BALB/c and

Male mice emit distinct ultrasonic vocalizations when the female leaves the social interaction arena. [PDF]
Adult male mice emit large number of complex ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) when interacting with adult females. Call numbers and call categories differ greatly among inbred mouse strains.

MHC Restriction of V-V Interactions in Serum IgG [PDF]
According to Jerne's idiotypic network hypothesis, the adaptive immune system is regulated by interactions between the variable regions of antibodies, B cells, and T cells.1 The symmetrical immune network theory2,3 is based on Jerne's hypothesis, and provides a basis for understanding many of the phenomena of adaptive immunity.

Agouti C57BL/6N embryonic stem cells for mouse genetic resources. [PDF]
We report the characterization of a highly germline competent C57BL/6N mouse embryonic stem cell line, JM8. To simplify breeding schemes, the dominant agouti coat color gene was restored in JM8 cells by targeted repair of the C57BL/6 nonagouti mutation ...

Stress of Strains: Inbred Mice in Liver Research
Inbred mice are the most popular animals used for in vivo liver research. These mice are genetically defined, readily available, less expensive to maintain than larger animals, and enjoy a broad array of commercial reagents for scientific characterization. C57BL/6 mice are the most commonly used strain. However, other strains discussed, including BALB/

Detection and Mapping of Quantitative Trait Loci that Determine Responsiveness [PDF]
Exposure to 70% N2O evokes a robust antinociceptive effect in C57BL/6 (B6) but not in DBA/2 (D2) inbred mice. This study was conducted to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) in the mouse genome that might determine responsiveness to N2O.

Intra- and inter-individual genetic differences in gene expression [PDF]
Genetic variation is known to influence the amount of mRNA produced by a gene. Given that the molecular machines control mRNA levels of multiple genes, we expect genetic variation in the components of these machines would influence multiple genes in a ...
