Engineered Microfluidic Organoid Systems: New Paradigms for Menopause Mechanism Research and Personalized Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review explores the integration of microfluidic technology with organoid systems as an innovative platform for studying menopausea complex multi‐organ condition. By enabling precise simulation of inter‐organ communication and hormone responses, microfluidic organoids offer a physiologically relevant model for investigating menopausal syndrome and ...

Upregulated SK2 Expression and Impaired CaMKII Phosphorylation Are Shared Synaptic Defects Between 16p11.2del and 129S: Mutant Mice

open access: yesASN Neuro, 2018
Ion channel gating and kinase regulation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 1 activity are fundamental mechanisms that govern synaptic plasticity. In this study, we showed that two mutant models (16p11.2del and Δdisc1 ) that recapitulate aspects of human ...

Rational Design of Optical Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotube‐Based Nanosensors with Biological Recognition Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This Review focuses on assessing and providing perspective on the field of rationally‐designed optical sensors constructed with single‐walled carbon nanotubes. The literature is reviewed and evaluated for SWCNT‐based sensors constructed with biomolecular recognition elements, including proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides, as well as their methods ...

Transgenic fatal familial insomnia mice indicate prion infectivity-independent mechanisms of pathogenesis and phenotypic expression of disease.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Fatal familial insomnia (FFI) and a genetic form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD178) are clinically different prion disorders linked to the D178N prion protein (PrP) mutation.

NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...

ROS Activated NETosis of Bone Marrow CD55+ Intermediate Mature Neutrophils Through HIF1α‐PADI4 Pathway to Initiate Bone Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we find CD55+ neutrophils show activated NETosis within bone marrow, induce BMSC senescence and osteogenesis inhibition, finally leading to bone aging initiation. Mechanistically, ROS synergizes with the CD55‐driven HIF1α‐PADI4 pathway to promote NETosis.

Mettl3‐Mediated m6A Modification Represents a Novel Therapeutic Target for FSGS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the roles of Mettl3‐induced N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modifications in Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The findings reveal that inhibition of Mettl3 results in podocyte injury by modulating the TJP1CDC42 pathway. Moreover, Administration of N6‐methyladenosine attenuates the FSGS phenotype in WT mice induced by Adriamycin ...

IL1R2 Marks and Sorts a Spermatogonial Stem Cell Population Critical for Restoring Spermatogenesis Upon Interruption in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) provide critical support to spermatogenesis. Here, the author established Il1r2 as a sorting marker for SSCs, with which further insights into the SSC heterogeneity and dynamic features can be obtained. They also confirmed findings in both mouse and human, thus validating IL1R2 as the surface marker for isolating and ...
