Yeasts Induce Acetaldehyde Production in Wine Micro-oxygenation Treatments
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2020Micro-oxygenation (Mox) is a common technique used to stabilize color and reduce harsh astringency in red wines. Here, we investigate the role of residual sugars, phenolics, SO2, and yeast on the oxidation of wine in three studies. In a Mox experiment, populations of yeasts emerged after the loss of SO2, and this was associated with sharp increases in ...

Design and Fabrication of Micro Oxygen Sensor
Key Engineering Materials, 2011In the study, a MEMS-based gas sensor is presented, which consists of a sensing thin film deposited by RF sputtering and annealed at 375°C. The structure and surface pattern of the thin film are analyzed by XRD and SEM. The sensor consists of a substrate, Pt interdigitated electrodes and an SnO2 sensing layer.

Micro-oxygen Process Improved Synthesis of PHAs with Undomesticated Excess Sludge
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2020Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a potential substitute for traditional plastics. Synthesis of PHAs using excess sludge without additional domestication as a mixed microbial culture can reduce production costs. PHAs were synthesized using excess sludge (R1) from a continuous flow system performing simultaneous nitrification/denitrification and ...

Radiosensitizing Pancreatic Cancer Xenografts by an Implantable Micro-Oxygen Generator
Radiation Research, 2016Over the past decades, little progress has been made to improve the extremely low survival rates in pancreatic cancer patients. Extreme hypoxia observed in pancreatic tumors contributes to the aggressive and metastatic characteristics of this tumor and can reduce the effectiveness of conventional radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Measurements of oxygen tension in tissues with a micro oxygen electrode
Microvascular Research, 1973Abstract The electrode we have devised consists of a glass-insulated, recessed gold cathode with a tip of about 1 μm. The methods used in its construction, and that of a double-barrelled electrode, are described. To assess its validity for intracellular measurement of PO2 we have used several tests, some of which are discussed in detail.

Yeast alter micro‐oxygenation of wine: oxygen consumption and aldehyde production
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2017AbstractBACKGROUNDMicro‐oxygenation (MOx) is a common winemaking treatment used to improve red wine color development and diminish vegetal aroma, amongst other effects. It is commonly applied to wine immediately after yeast fermentation (phase 1) or later, during aging (phase 2).

Efficiency of processing stabilizers using a micro-oxygen uptake technique
Polymer, 1989Abstract The thermooxidative stability of various low density polyethylene (LDPE) film formulations was investigated using the technique of micro oxygen uptake measurement following multiple extrusions. The results show that the micro oxygen uptake technique is more sensitive than conventional test methods.

A Disposable Hypoxanthine Sensor Based on a Micro Oxygen Electrode
Analytical Letters, 1989Abstract A disposable type micro enzyme sensor was constructed using a Clark-type micro oxygen electrode and immobilized xanthine oxidase (EC 1.1.3.22) for the assay of hypoxanthine which is an important marker for the fish freshness estimation. The sensor showed a good response to hypoxanthine and allowed the determination of hypoxanthine in the ...

Micro‑oxygenation in red wines: Current status and future perspective
Food ChemistryMicro‑oxygenation (MOX) is the technology providing a slow and continuous oxidation reaction in the whole winemaking process to improve wine quality. However, traditional methods of oxygen management struggle to achieve a precise control over oxygen at critical process points, failing to meet the personalized and diverse production demands of wine.

Effect of Wine Properties and Operating Mode upon Mass Transfer in Micro-Oxygenation
International Journal of Food Engineering, 2010All along wine-making and during its ageing, oxygen plays an important role for the evolution of the wine. Solubilization of oxygen into musts or wines occurs when gaseous oxygen is brought into contact with the liquid. In this work, the specific technique of wine micro-oxygenation is addressed through the evaluation of transfer capacity for oxygen ...
