Positional specificity of microbial lipases

Journal of Fermentation and Bioengineering, 1991
The positional specificity of microbial lipases was studied by a method based on the measurement of diglyceride (DG) isomers in their reaction products using a TLC-autodetector and calculation of a positional specificity index defined as follows: PSI = [1, 2(2, 3)DG − 1, 3DG × 2] × 100/[1, 2(2,3)DG + 1,3DG × 2].

Recombinant microbial lipases for biotechnological applications

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1999
Lipases, mainly of microbial origin, represent the most widely used class of enzymes in biotechnological applications and organic chemistry. Modern methods of genetic engineering combined with an increasing knowledge of structure and function will allow further adaptation to industrial needs and exploration of novel applications.

Industrial application of microbial lipases: A review

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1974
AbstractCommercial microbial lipases have been used in dairy and other food processes, and lipases produced in situ by microorganisms are important in making foods palatable and acceptable. Microbial lipases have been used in detergents, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, leather processing, production of aliphatic acids, and in the treatment of domestic and ...

Microbial Lipases and Their Versatile Applications

2020
Lipases are important biocatalysts and known for their versatile biotechnological applications. Lipases are well known as triacylglycerol hydrolases converting fats into simpler compounds as glycerol and fatty acids at the water-lipid interface and vice versa in nonaqueous medium.

Production and optimization of microbial lipase

Bioprocess Engineering, 1998
Production of lipase by the newly isolated Pseu-domonas species has been optimised. Various parameters like initial pH, temperature, incubation period, effect of agitation, inoculum age, inoculum concentration were optimised. It was observed that modified GYP media with 72 hrs incubation, pH 5.5, at 37 °C in agitation conditions were optimum for growth

Glyceride synthesis by four kinds of microbial lipase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1977
Apart from their usual mechanism of action, lipases from Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus delemar also catalyzed the synthesis of glycerides from oleic acid and glycerol. Lipases from Geotrichum candidum and Penicillium cyclopium were inactivated by oleic acid, but were stable in the presence of casein, albumin or buffer of appropriate pH.

[The characterization of microbial lipases. 2. The determination of lipase specificity].

Die Nahrung, 1991
Types of lipase specificity are as follows: Positional specificity; fatty acid specificity; stereospecificity; substrate specificity (different rates of lipolysis of different glyceride classes. The acylglycerol used for determination of lipase specificity must be so structured, that specificities are not confused and unambiguous results are obtained ...

[The characterization of microbial lipases. 1. The determination of lipase activity].

Die Nahrung, 1990
In the selection of an appropriate method for activity determination of lipases existing technical equipment, kind of enzymes, number of samples investigated (e.g. in routine analysis), and expected sensitivity range have to be taken into account. Titrimetric methods and above all copper salt methods with their high detection sensitivity are the most ...
