Metagenome-assembled genomes reveal microbial signatures and metabolic pathways linked to coronary artery disease

open access: yesmSystems
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota has emerged as a critical factor influencing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, particularly coronary artery disease (CAD) development. Using fecal metagenomic shotgun sequencing, we investigated gut microbiota signatures associated with CAD and ...

Warm‐wet transition restructures arid lake microbiomes and functional potential

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
This study summarizes how a long‐term warm‐dry to warm‐wet transition restructures microbiomes and functional potential in Lake Bosten, an arid lake in northwestern China. Warm‐wet hydroclimatic change increased water level and hydrological connectivity, while decreasing salinity and total nitrogen.

Environmental instability reduces shock resistance by enriching specialist taxa with distinct two component regulatory systems

open access: yesnpj Biofilms and Microbiomes
Different microbial communities are impacted disproportionately by environmental disturbances. The degree to which a community can remain unchanged under a disturbance is referred to as resistance1.

Viruses in the sediments around the trenches harbor diverse survival mechanisms

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Deep‐sea trenches are the deepest and most isolated environments in the global ocean but the diversity and adaptation of the viral communities remain poorly characterized. In this study, 5563 viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs) were identified from sediments of the Yap Trench and Western Caroline Basin.

Evidence tiers for strain‐resolved long‐read metagenomics

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Long‐read metagenomics links variants, repeats, and mobile elements across individual molecules and can reveal lineage turnover that is obscured at the species level. The strength of the resulting inference, however, depends on the type and genomic span of the recovered linkage. We distinguish four evidence units—strain profiles, local haplotype blocks,

Reconstruction of Metagenome-Assembled Microbial Genomes from a Micro-biome (Poster)

open access: yes, 2018
Microbiome/host interactions describe characteristics that affect the host health; shotgun metagenomics sequences microbiome samples, allowing us to analyze its taxonomic and metabolic potential.

Artificial intelligence driven diet‐intestinal microbiota‐host health integration: A four‐dimensional paradigm for advancing host wellness research

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
This graphical abstract presents a novel Diet‐Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐intestinal Microbiota–Host Health paradigm integrating microbiota‐centric pathways and an AI‐driven multi‐omics workflow. Diet shapes gut bacteria that regulate intestinal mucosal integrity, immune signaling, and gut–brain neurotransmitters to influence host health.

Small‐ and large‐scale patches shape benthic microbial community structure and functional gene composition in streams at the subcontinental scale

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Streams process organic matter as water moves along the land‐to‐ocean continuum, making important contributions to global biogeochemical cycles. Yet, predicting stream microbial metabolism associated with biogeochemical transformations at broad spatial scales remains challenging.

Compartment‐Specific Functional and Taxonomic Responses of Plant Growth‐Promoting Microbiomes Following Oxytetracycline Trunk Injection in Citrus

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Huanglongbing (HLB), caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, is the most destructive disease affecting citrus production worldwide. Trunk injection of oxytetracycline (OTC) is increasingly used to suppress the pathogen and improve tree performance, yet its ecological consequences for plant‐associated microbiomes remain poorly understood ...

Complete metagenome-assembled genome sequence of Solidesulfovibrio sp. DCME from a dichloromethane dechlorinating microbial community

open access: yesMicrobiology Resource Announcements
ABSTRACT Here, we announce the closed genome of Solidesulfovibrio sp. DCME, assembled from metagenomic sequencing of an anaerobic dichloromethane mineralizing enrichment culture. The Solidesulfovibrio
