Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Inosine Mitigates Polystyrene Nanoplastics‐Induced Hepatic Injury by Inhibiting the Polarization of M1 Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Probiotic B.p colonization elevated gut‐derived inosine level in the liver, while elevated inosine activated A2AR and subsequently blocked NPs‐induced polarization of M1 macrophages by repressing the miR155/SOCS1/NF‐κB pathway. This reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and thereby, mitigated NPs‐induced hepatic injury.

Highly Flexible and Conformable ZnO/FeGa Magnetoelectric Heterostructures for Skin wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The magnetic field‐induced electric field generated by a highly flexile ZnO(piezoelectric)/FeGa(magnetostrictive) magnetoelectric heterostructure embedded in the low Young's modulus elastomer PDMS has been used to stimulate the wound healing processes.

Biofilm‐Binding Phages Enhance Biofilm Eradication by Synergistic Photothermal and Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Engineered phage‐based trifunctional nanofibers are developed for synergistic biofilm eradication. Biofilm‐binding phages, armed with AuNPs and TCPP, serve as both warheads and scaffolds, endowing the phototherapy agents with biofilm‐anchoring ability. Upon light irradiation, AuNPs induce photothermal therapy, while TCPP generates 1O2 for photodynamic ...

Human health risk assessment for microbial pesticides in the EU: challenges and perspectives

open access: yesEnvironmental Health
The risk assessment of microbial pesticides in the European Union (EU) is covered by a regulatory framework based on EU Regulation 1107/2009 and 546/2011 together with the data requirements in EU Regulation 283/2013 and 284/2013, Part B, respectively ...

The Application of Quantitative Risk Assessment to Microbial Food Safety

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1998
Quantitative risk assessment (QRA) is rapidly accumulating recognition as the most practical method for assessing the risks associated with microbial contamination of foodstuffs. These risk analyses are most commonly developed in commercial computer spreadsheet applications, combined with Monte Carlo simulation add-ins that enable probability ...

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...
