A Thermophilic Phage Endolysin Fusion to a Clostridium perfringens-Specific Cell Wall Binding Domain Creates an Anti-Clostridium Antimicrobial with Improved Thermostability

open access: yesViruses, 2015
Clostridium perfringens is the third leading cause of human foodborne bacterial disease and is the presumptive etiologic agent of necrotic enteritis among chickens. Treatment of poultry with antibiotics is becoming less acceptable.

EEPD1 Inhibition Unleashes Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer by Activating the cGAS‐STING Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In colorectal cancer, high expression of the DNA repair protein EEPD1 correlates with immune exclusion and poor prognosis. This study demonstrates that EEPD1 depletion induces genomic instability, leading to cytosolic DNA accumulation and subsequent activation of the cGAS‐STING‐type I interferon pathway. This cascade remodels the tumor microenvironment

Antimicrobial Resistance Genotypes and Mobile Genetic Elements of Poultry-Derived Escherichia coli: A Retrospective Genomic Study from the United States

open access: yesPathogens
The presence of antibiotic resistance in commensal bacteria may be an influential factor in the persistence of resistance in pathogens. This is especially critical for Escherichia coli that consumers may be exposed to through the consumption of uncooked ...

Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructure‐Based Biomimetic Nanovesicles Attenuate Sepsis‐Associated ARDS by Suppressing Glycolysis via the BMAL1/PFKFB3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon inhalation, RM@TNT could persist long‐term in the diseased lungs, while undergoing disintegration to release TNT specifically within the ROS‐rich pathological microenvironments of SA‐ARDS. The released TNT was then precisely delivered to AMs via Tuftsin, where it released Nob intracellularly to activate BMAL1 expression, thus inhibiting AM ...

Interplay between Misplaced Müllerian-Derived Stem Cells and Peritoneal Immune Dysregulation in the Pathogenesis of Endometriosis

open access: yesObstetrics and Gynecology International, 2013
In the genetic regulation of Müllerian structures development, a key role is played by Hoxa and Wnt clusters, because they lead the transcription of different genes according to the different phases of the organogenesis, addressing correctly cell-to-cell
