Quantitative Analysis of Anhydrotetracycline on Microcrystalline Cellulose

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1966
A quantitative TLC method for the determination of anhydrotetracycline alone and in the presence of tetracycline has been developed on microcrystalline cellulose. It is a rapid and precise method for determining small amounts of this compound in tetracycline samples, provided one works within the range of 10–40 mcg. of anhydrotetracycline per spot.

Directional Bonding in Compacted Microcrystalline Cellulose

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2001
The mechanical properties of compacts of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and silicified microcrystalline cellulose (SMCC) were evaluated by tensile testing, diametric compression testing, and compression testing. For tensile and compression testing, cubic specimens were carefully machined from MCC and SMCC compacts, and the tensile and compression ...

Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC or Cellulose Gel)

2022
Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is one of the few relatively new ingredients available to the food industry. The manufacturing process most common to microcrystalline cellulose produced two divergent products. The first type of product is powdered microcrystalline cellulose.

Adsorption of cationic amylopectin on microcrystalline cellulose

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1993
Abstract The effects of electrolyte concentration and pH on the adsorption of cationic amylopectin on microcrystalline cellulose were investigated. The adsorbed amount in the pseudo-plateau of the isotherm showed a maximum as a function of the electrolyte concentration. We compared the data with a recent theory on polyelectrolyte adsorption.

Microcrystalline Cellulose: An Overview

2017
Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is obtained from naturally occurring cellulose that has been purified and partially depolymerized. MCC is an excipient with wide-ranging applications in the pharmaceutical industry. Particularly, in the process of extrusion–spheronization, MCC has shown unsurpassed efficiency in terms of process control and end-product ...

Rheology of Microcrystalline Cellulose-Carboxymethylcellulose Gels

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1968
Rheological evaluations of MCC-CMC gels were employed to delineate their properties. It was concluded that the thixotropic nature of MCC-CMC gels depended upon the adsorption of the soluble CMC on the MCC. A certain degree of shear was required to unsheave the microcrystals. However, excessive shear reduced the degree of structuring.

Is Silicified Wet-Granulated Microcrystalline Cellulose Better than Original Wet-Granulated Microcrystalline Cellulose?

Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 1999
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of granulating water level on the physical-mechanical properties of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and silicified microcrystalline cellulose (SMCC). Granulations containing either MCC or SMCC were manufactured at different water levels using a high-shear mixer and were then tray-dried. The water

Weight and Weight Uniformity of Hard Gelatin Capsules Filled with Microcrystalline Cellulose and Silicified Microcrystalline Cellulose

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2002
The objective of this study was to investigate the weight and weight uniformity of hard gelatin capsules filled with microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and silicified microcrystalline cellulose (SMCC) powdered formulations. A tamping-type encapsulation apparatus was used to fill the capsules. The four formulations that were tested included MCC alone, MCC

Extraction of Microcrystalline Cellulose from Cotton Sliver and Its Comparison with Commercial Microcrystalline Cellulose

Journal of Polymers and the Environment, 2017
The work was aimed at the extraction of microcrystalline cellulose (EMC) from raw cotton sliver (RCS) by acid hydrolysis using sulphuric acid. The EMC was characterized and compared with commercial grade microcrystalline cellulose (CMC). Basic chemical pretreatments, bleaching and scouring were given to the RCS before extraction to remove natural ...
