Genomic Analysis of Inbreeding Depression on Productive Traits in Rubia Galega Beef Cattle Breed
ABSTRACT In autochthonous livestock breeds with small populations, such as the Rubia Galega from Galicia (Spain), mating between relatives is common and can lead to inbreeding depression. Genomic inbreeding coefficients were estimated for 4984 animals using ~63,000 SNPs to assess inbreeding depression in four key traits: age at first calving (AFC) with

Roles of hypoxia-inducible microRNA-210 in hepatocellular carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most prevalent human malignancy and the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the world. MicroRNAs (miRNA) are conserved, small noncoding RNA molecules that regulate gene expression of protein-coding gene posttranscriptionally.

Elevated miR‐210‐3p expression was diagnostic for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and served as an independent risk factor for DPN. miR‐210‐3p functioned by negatively regulating BDNF, and its inhibitor reversed hyperglycemia‐induced Schwann cell dysfunction, whereas BDNF knockdown eliminated this protective effect.

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

ABSTRACT Obesity is one of the most prevalent health problems worldwide, and global obesity rates continue to rise. Consequently, rates of obesity in expecting mothers and fathers have also increased. The Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) hypothesis postulates that early‐life exposure to adverse environmental conditions contributes to

Hypoxia-induced microRNA-210 regulation of kidney development [PDF]
Intrauterine growth restriction is a common pregnancy complication that is thought to arise from fetal hypoxia and results in reduced nephron number. This decrease in the total amount of nephrons (which are the functional unit of the kidney) increases an

ABSTRACT Pangenome can reveal a large number of variations, providing a more comprehensive view of the genetic diversity of species that a single reference genome cannot surpass. Here, we assembled the haplotype telomere‐to‐telomere genome and 10 chromosome‐level genomes, integrated with two previously reported genomes, and constructed a graph ...
