Microsomal Protein Mediates a pH-Dependent Fusion of Liposomes to Rat Brain Microsomes

Membrane Biochemistry, 1990
The fusion between rat brain microsomes and liposomes is investigated by measuring the release of octadecylrhodamine B (R18) fluorescence self-quenching. In the experimental conditions used in this work, the method allows a rapid and quantitative evaluation of the mixing of microsome and liposome lipid phases.

The formation of inorganic pyrophosphate in microsomes

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1957
Abstract The formation of inorganic pyrophosphate from orthophosphate in respiring liver homogenates has been investigated. The results indicate that the major source of the pyrophosphate-forming system is in the microsome fraction, and that the pyrophosphate is formed from ATP, which can be generated either oxidatively by mitochondria or ...

The stimulation of microsomal azoreduction by flavins

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1982
The reduction of the azo dye, amaranth, by rat liver microsomes is inhibited about 90% by carbon monoxide, suggesting that the reaction largely depends on cytochrome P-450. Reducing equivalents for this reaction are supplied by NADPH. This reaction is stimulated by riboflavin, FMN and FAD, as well as by methylviologen.

Pigments of rat liver microsomes

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1958
Abstract The total hemin content of washed rat liver microsomes is 2.15 times the cytochrome b5 content, only a small part being due to bound hemoglobin. The content of flavine is 4 5 that of cytochrome b5. The flavine probably does not contribute to the DPNH reduced difference spectrum.

Selenium and hepatic microsomal hemoproteins

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1974
The microsomal share of liver homogenate 75Se after injection of a tracer dose of 75SeO32− was three times greater in rats fed a selenium-deficient diet than in rats fed a selenium-adequate diet. Basal levels of microsomal cytochromes P-450 and b5 were unaffected by selenium deficiency.

Effect of t-Butyl hydroperoxide on liver microsomal membranes and microsomal calcium sequestration

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1984
In vitro exposure of hepatocytes or liver microsomes to t-butyl hydroperoxide resulted in a marked decrease of liver microsomal calcium pump activity. Decreased calcium pump activity was dependent upon both concentration and time. Liver microsomes could be protected from this effect by glutathione or dithiothreitol.

Role of cholesterol in the microsomal membrane

Lipids, 1990
