Filamin-A is required for the incorporation of tissue factor into cell-derived microvesicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We previously reported that the incorporation of tissue factor (TF) into cell-derived microvesicles (MVs) is regulated by the phosphorylation of the cytoplasmic domain of TF.

In Situ Programming of the Tumor Microenvironment to Alleviate Immunosuppression for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
cmExoaCD11b induced the repolarization of immunosuppressive M2 macrophages into pro‐inflammatory M1 phenotype, thereby promoting the proliferation and activation of CD8+ T cells and reversing the immunosuppressive state of the tumor microenvironment.

Circulating Tumor Cells Shed Shearosome Extracellular Vesicles in Capillary Bifurcations That Activate Endothelial and Immune Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using microfluidic models of capillary networks, this study discovered that fluid shear stresses on circulating tumor cells transiting through capillary‐sized bifurcations shed a novel class of shear‐dependent large extracellular vesicle, “shearosomes”, whose proteome comprises of over 3000 distinct proteins.

Recent exposure to ultrafine particles in school children alters miR-222 expression in the extracellular fraction of saliva [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Ultrafine particles (< 100 nm) are ubiquitous present in the air and may contribute to adverse cardiovascular effects. Exposure to air pollutants can alter miRNA expression, which can affect downstream signaling pathways.

Comparative Proteomic Analysis of Exosomes and Microvesicles in Human Saliva for Lung Cancer.

open access: yesJournal of Proteome Research, 2018
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-derived microparticles present in most body fluids, mainly including microvesicles and exosomes. EV-harbored proteins have emerged as novel biomarkers for the diagnosis and prediction of different cancers.

Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

Exosome-mediated transfer of miR-222 is sufficient to increase tumor malignancy in melanoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Growing evidence is showing that metastatic cell populations are able to transfer their characteristics to less malignant cells. Exosomes (EXOs) are membrane vesicles of endocytic origin able to convey their cargo of mRNAs, microRNAs (miRs),
