Electroacupuncture Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment in Vascular Dementia Rats: Potential Involvement of the Astrocyte–Synapse Axis

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Electroacupuncture significantly ameliorates cognitive impairment and synaptic damage in vascular dementia rats, showing specific advantages over nimodipine. These neuroprotective effects are closely associated with modulating the astrocyte–synapse axis to suppress neuroinflammation and enhance neurotrophic support.

Double‐Stranded DNA Sensing cGAS‐STING Immune Signaling in a Rat Co‐Culture Model of the Blood–Brain Barrier

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Double‐stranded DNA coming from, for example, viruses, bacteria, or apoptotic cells is recognized by the cGAS‐STING signaling pathway comprising the cyclic GMP‐AMP synthase (cGAS) and the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) receptors. The pathway induces type I interferon response and activates transcription of interferon‐stimulated genes ...

Human brain pericytes protect the blood–brain barrier from triple‐negative breast cancer cells while promoting tumor aggressiveness

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract The majority of breast cancer‐related deaths result from metastatic progression, especially brain metastasis, associated with the poorest prognosis. Patients with triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) are particularly prone to developing brain metastases.

The Silent Link: Exploring the Impact of Periodontal Diseases on Head and Neck Carcinogenesis

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Oral dysbiosis can accelerate the progression of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) by fostering a pro‐inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and metabolically altered environment. This narrative review examines the relationships between periodontitis‐associated bacteria and HNSCC, focusing on their impact on oncogenic pathways,

Biomaterial Physical Cues as Gene Regulators for Cellular Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Genetics, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
This review elucidates how biomaterial physical cues—ranging from matrix stiffness to remote electromagnetic fields—serve as extrinsic regulators of gene expression in cellular agriculture. By identifying central mechanotransduction pathways that bridge physical inputs to genetic remodeling, the authors propose the “Material Genome” concept: a ...
