The transition of mild to severe wear of ceramics
Wear, 2004The transition of mild to severe wear of ceramics depends on the operating conditions (normal load, velocity and temperature) and material properties (like grain size, mechanical and thermal material properties). Adachi et al. [Wear 203¿204 (1997) 291] introduced the transition of mild to severe wear of ceramics by defining a mechanical severity ...

Developments in the oxidational theory of mild wear
Tribology International, 1980Abstract Previous work in which the oxidational theory of the mild wear of metals has been applied to low alloy steels has revealed discrepancies between theoretical predictions and experimentally derived data. These were due to the incorrect assumption that oxidational constants measured under static conditions could be applied without change to the

Wear Simulation with a Focus on Mild Wear in Rolling and Sliding Contacts
The amount of wear occurring in high-performance rolling and sliding contacts is often quite small, and such contact surfaces often become glossy. To obtain good contact conditions, it is necessary that the form and the topography of the surfaces be good,

Hardfacing and its effect on wear and corrossion performance of various ferrous welded mild steels
, 2021Wear and corrosion exist as one of the main important factor of energy and material losses in mechanical and chemical process. This work is about the methods to evaluate the wear and corrosion resistant properties of the mild steel like EN-8, EN-9 and EN-

Wear, 1984
Abstract We have measured the weight changes that take place when a martensitic 52100 steel ball slides against a ferritic 52100 steel disc under small loads and at low sliding velocities. The results show that metal is transferred from the ball and appears on the disc as metal oxide.

Transition of Mild Wear to Severe Wear in Oxidative Wear of H21 Steel
Tribology Letters, 2008Under atmospheric conditions at 400 °C, we studied the wear mechanism of H21 steel with different tempering states as a function of normal load. Typical oxidative wear was identified by X-ray diffraction patterns with predominant tribo-oxides of Fe3O4 and Fe2O3.
