Abstract Milk fat represents a loss of energy to the cow. This energy is potentially available for production of more milk when secretion of milk fat is suppressed by diet or by fatty acids unsuited to formation of milk glycerides. Full realization of this potential for greater milk production depends upon energy limiting milk production and upon ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Kinetics of fat and protein secretion in dairy cattle, sheep, goats and buffaloes [PDF]
The negative correlations of fat and protein concentrations and milk yield, existing in all ruminants dairy species (Oftedal, 1984; Mepham, 1987), reflect a deep mechanism regulating the respective kinetics of secretion of carrier (mainly lactose which ...

Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

The effect of supplementary grass silage and standard concentrate on milk fat fatty acid composition and iodine value when cows are fed a whole rapeseed-based concentrate at pasture [PDF]
peer-reviewedThe use of grass silage and concentrates to supplement fresh grass intake is commonly practised in dairy systems. However, the effects of such supplementation within a dietary regime designed to produce a spreadable butter are unknown ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Maintaining safety : the social support and monitoring of men who have completed therapy for sexual offending : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Social Policy and Social Work at Massey University [PDF]
Many consumers are conscious of the potential health problems incurred by the high consumption of fat. Consequently, they are discouraged from drinking whole milk due to its high fat content, despite its nutritional benefits, e.g. as a calcium source.

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
