Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Coagulation and proteolysis of high-protein milks in the gastric environment

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2023
: Gastric digestion of 2 commercial ultrafiltered milks and milk enriched with skim milk powder (to simulate concentration by reverse osmosis) was investigated and compared with the digestion of nonconcentrated milk.

Effect of forage legumes on feed intake, milk production and milk quality – a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Literature data from experiments with lactating dairy cows offered silage-based diets was reviewed to evaluate the effects of the grassland legume species Trifolium repens (WC, white clover), Trifolium pratense (RC, red clover) and Medicago sativa (M ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Untreated and formaldehyde treated skimmilk powder as a protein supplement for dairy cows

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 1978
Twenty four high producing dairy cows were used in an experiment in which the value of fat free spray-dried milk powder, untreated or formaldehyde treated (0.4 g formaldehyde/100 g crude protein), was studied as a protein supplement in a protein ...

A New Direction for the Payment of Milk: Technological and Seasonality Considerations in Multiple Component Milk Pricing of Milk (Liquid and Manufacturing) for a Diversifying Dairy Industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
End of project reportThe main objectives of this study were to compare a Multiple Component Pricing system with the current milk pricing practice in Ireland and to estimate the marginal values of the three main milk components (fat, protein and lactose ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Feeding sainfoin to goats – influence on milk and cheese quality and yield [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although the administration of sainfoin is associated with anthelmintic effects, information on the consequences of feeding this legume on product quality is scarce. In the present study we looked at milk quality and yield of goats fed either sainfoin or
