Satellites of Simulated Galaxies: survival, merging, and their relation to the dark and stellar halos

open access: yes, 2007
We study the population of satellite galaxies formed in a suite of N-body/gasdynamical simulations of galaxy formation in a LCDM universe. We find little spatial or kinematic bias between the dark matter and the satellite population.

Zinc‐Coordinated Trienzyme Nanogel Cascade Therapy for Accelerated Post‐Pancreatectomy Cutaneous Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A zinc‐coordinated nanogel assembly is reported that co‐delivers three enzymes to regulate glucose, oxidative stress, and oxygen levels. This system mimics natural enzyme cascades to reprogram the wound environment after pancreatectomy. In a post‐pancreatectomy mouse model, it accelerates healing by reducing infection, promoting blood vessel growth ...

All-sky Kinematics of the Distant Halo: The Reflex Response to the LMC

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The infall of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is predicted to displace the inner Milky Way (MW), imprinting an apparent “reflex motion” on the observed velocities of distant halo stars. We construct the largest all-sky spectroscopic data set of luminous

RAMUS: Printable, Mechanically‐Tunable and Biodegradable Cellulose‐Mediated Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Ramus, a Latin term meaning “branch,” develops large‐scale, ambient conditions additively manufactured, and biodegradable cellulose‐based biomaterial composites able to mediate their structural capacity from micro to macroscale. Abstract Ramus develops large‐scale, ambient conditions additively manufactured, and biodegradable cellulose‐based ...

Using the Two-point Correlation Function to Understand the Assembly Histories of Milky Way–like Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The two-point correlation function (2PCF) is a powerful statistical tool to measure galaxy clustering. Although 2PCF has also been used to study the clustering of stars on subparsec to kiloparsec scales, its physical implication is not clear.

The stellar halos of Milky Way type galaxies in the EAGLE simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The stellar halo component of a galaxy contains a wealth of valuable information on the host galaxy's formation history. As the diffuse outskirts of galaxies which have been built up through hierarchical assembly, their content and structure is directly tied to the material that was accreted onto them over the course of the galaxy's life.

The gravitational and hydrodynamical interaction between the Large Magellanic Cloud and the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We use high-resolution N-body/smoothed particle hydrodynamic simulations to study the hydrodynamical and gravitational interaction between the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and the Milky Way Galaxy.

Damage Microenvironment Guided Responsive Smart Hydrogel Design for Self‐Regenerative Repair in Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Chronic wounds remain a major therapeutic challenge, with VEGF applications hindered by rapid degradation and systemic side effects. Here, a dual‐responsive chitosan–gelatin hydrogel is reported, functionalized with dopamine, glutathione, and MMP‐sensitive motifs, enabling spatiotemporally controlled VEGF release and enhanced biocompatibility, thereby ...
