Figuring Out Gas and Galaxies in Enzo (FOGGIE). VII. The (Dis)assembly of Stellar Halos

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Over the next decade, the astronomical community will be commissioning multiple wide-field observatories well suited for studying stellar halos in both integrated light and resolved stars. In preparation for this, we use five high-resolution cosmological

The impact of stellar rotation on the CNO abundance patterns in the Milky Way at low metallicities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the effect of new stellar models, which take rotation into account, computed for very low metallicities on the chemical evolution of the earliest phases of the Milky Way.

Bright gamma-ray Galactic Center excess and dark dwarfs: Strong tension for dark matter annihilation despite Milky Way halo profile

open access: yes, 2016
We incorporate Milky Way dark matter halo profile uncertainties, as well as an accounting of diffuse gamma-ray emission uncertainties in dark matter annihilation models for the Galactic Center Extended gamma-ray excess (GCE) detected by the Fermi Gamma ...

A New Tidal Stream Discovered in Gaia DR3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Thanks to the precise astrometric measurements of proper motions by the Gaia mission, a new tidal stellar stream has been discovered in the northern hemisphere. The distribution of star count shows that the stream is approximately 80° long and 1.°70 wide.

Tracing out the Northern Tidal Stream of the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheoridal Galaxy

open access: yes, 2003
The main aim of this paper is to report two new detections of tidal debris in the northern stream of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy located at 45 arcdeg and 55 arcdeg from the center of galaxy.

Signatures of minor mergers in the Milky Way disc I: The SEGUE stellar sample

open access: yes, 2012
It is now known that minor mergers are capable of creating structure in the phase-space distribution of their host galaxy's disc. In order to search for such imprints in the Milky Way, we analyse the SEGUE F/G-dwarf and the Schuster et al. (2006) stellar
