The Milky Way Stellar Halo Is Twisted and Doubly Broken: Insights from DESI DR2 Milky Way Survey Observation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Using K giants from the second data release (DR2) of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Milky Way Survey, we measure the shape, orientation, radial profile, and density anisotropies of the Milky Way (MW) stellar halo over 8 kpc < r _GC < 200

Formation of Milky Way-type stellar haloes in a Λ-CDM cosmology

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Recent observations suggest that the Milky Way stellar halo has a ‘dual nature’, meaning that both dissipational and dissipationless processes play a role in its build-up.

Stretchable and Strain‐Tolerant Gold‐Coated Fibrous Biosensor for Superoxide Anion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A breathable, stretchable gold nanomesh–TPU fiber platform is developed via controlled electroless deposition, enabling uniform through‐thickness conductivity while preserving porosity. Functionalized with superoxide dismutase, the system achieves selective, real‐time electrochemical detection of superoxide with high sensitivity, mechanical durability,

A Novel Approach to Identifying Substructures through Analysis of Metallicity Distribution Functions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a new method for identifying Galactic halo substructures accreted from dwarf galaxies by combining metallicity distribution functions (MDFs) with orbital parameters.

Near‐Infrared‐Driven Metal–Organic Frameworks‐Based Nanorobots for Controlled Photothermal‐Chemical Therapy Synergistic Induction of Cancer Cell Death

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
To achieve efficient cancer cell death, a bowl‐shaped PDA@UiO‐66@DOX nanorobot drug‐delivery nanoplatform was developed. Near‐infrared irradiation not only drives the nanorobot to exhibit self‐thermophoretic motion and elevates temperature but also triggers Doxorubicin (DOX) release via hyperthermia, enhancing cancer cells uptake of DOX and thereby ...

All-sky Kinematics of the Distant Halo: The Reflex Response to the LMC

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The infall of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is predicted to displace the inner Milky Way (MW), imprinting an apparent “reflex motion” on the observed velocities of distant halo stars. We construct the largest all-sky spectroscopic data set of luminous

QBP1 Peptide as a Potential Anti‐Amyloidogenic Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The anti‐amyloidogenic peptide QBP1 effectively halts human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) aggregation, preventing the formation of toxic β‐structured intermediates. Through a combination of biophysical assays, molecular dynamics, and cell‐based studies, QBP1 is shown to preserve β‐cell viability and metabolic homeostasis, positioning it as a ...

Predictions for the Detectability of Milky Way Satellite Galaxies and Outer-Halo Star Clusters with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
We predict the sensitivity of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) to faint, resolved Milky Way satellite galaxies and outer-halo star clusters.

The assembly of the halo system of the Milky Way as revealed by SDSS/SEGUE – The CEMP star connection

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
In recent years, massive new spectroscopic data sets, such as the over half million stellar spectra obtained during the course of SDSS (in particular its sub-survey SEGUE), have provided the quantitative detail required to formulate a coherent story of ...

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.
