Endocrinologist‐Led Management of Endocrine Immune‐Related Adverse Events: Real‐World Evidence Supporting the Japan Endocrine Society Guidelines

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
During the study period, 709 patients were treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) at our institution. Endocrine immune‐related adverse events (irAEs) were diagnosed in 84 patients, all of whom were evaluated and managed by endocrinologists; the most common irAEs were thyroid dysfunction (64.3%) and adrenal insufficiency (42.9%), followed by ...

A Case of Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction Secondary to Dilated Cardiomyopathy due to Long‐Standing Untreated Acromegaly: A Case Report and Focused Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Echocardiographic findings in dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to untreated acromegaly. (A) Apical four‐chamber view showing biventricular and biatrial dilation. (B‐C) Colour Doppler demonstrating mitral, aortic, and tricuspid regurgitation. (D) Reduced global longitudinal strain (GLS: −6.5%), consistent with severe systolic dysfunction.

The Role of Inspiratory Muscle Strength in Functional Capacity and Left Atrial Strain in Patients With Heart Failure With Mildly Reduced and Preserved Ejection Fraction

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 4, April 2026.
In patients with HFpEF and HFmrEF, maximal inspiratory pressure is independently associated with exercise capacity, including peak oxygen uptake and 6‐minute walk distance, as well as left atrial reservoir strain. These findings highlight inspiratory muscle strength as a relevant functional determinant of exercise intolerance, independent of age and ...

Prognostic Value of HALP Score in Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis: A Long‐Term Follow‐up Study

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 4, April 2026.
In 169 patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis, a low HALP score was associated with increased long‐term MACCE risk. The HALP score showed modest predictive value (AUC 0.644) but was not an independent predictor. It may serve as a simple complementary tool for risk stratification alongside established clinical parameters.

Macrophage Cluster of Differentiation 163 promotes post‐infarction cardiac repair and preserves left ventricular function via osteopontin

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
• Circulating soluble CD163 is elevated in ischaemic cardiomyopathy and correlates with systolic dysfunction severity and ventricular dilation. • Macrophage CD163 protects against post‐infarction systolic dysfunction and left ventricular dilation in mice. • Loss of CD163 decreases macrophage osteopontin expression.

A Case of Worsened Refractory Ascites due to Prednisolone Administration for Stricture Prevention after Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Extensive Early Esophageal Cancer: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is widely used for early esophageal cancer, even in patients with liver cirrhosis (LC). Corticosteroids, administered orally or by local injection, are often used to prevent post‐ESD esophageal stricture. However, their safety in patients with decompensated LC and refractory ascites remains unclear. A man
