GATA tandem repeats detect minisatellite regions in blowfly DNA (Diptera: Calliphoridae)

Chromosoma, 1988
A DNA probe containing GATA tandem repeats detected numerous dispersed minisatellite regions in the genomes of the blowflies Chrysomya rufifacies and Calliphora erythrocephala. These regions seemed to be actively transcribed into poly(A)+ RNA in a tissue-specific manner.

Characterization of Novel Minisatellite Repeat Loci in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) and Their Phylogenetic Distribution

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1998
We present here the sequence and characterization of various minisatellite-like tandem repeat loci isolated from the genome of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Their diversity of sequence and lack of core motifs common to minisatellites of other species suggest the presence of numerous and previously unidentified simple sequence repeat families in this ...

Repeat sequences from complex ds DNA viruses can be used as minisatellite probes for DNA fingerprinting

Animal Genetics, 1991
Summary. In a search for new fingerprinting probes for use with sheep, repeat sequences derived from five poxviruses, an iridovirus and a baculovirus were screened against DNA from sheep pedigrees. Probes constructed from portions of the parapox viruses, orf virus and papular stomatitis virus and the baculovirus from the alfalfa looper, Autographa ...

Sequencing and four-state minisatellite variant repeat mapping of the D1S7 locus (MS1) by fluorescence detection

Electrophoresis, 2000
Minisatellite variant repeat mapping by polymerase chain reaction (MVR-PCR) reveals an enormous degree of variation in the human minisatellite regions. The original approach involved the use of 32P-labelled probes to detect the MVR-PCR products generated. To date, the loci mapped include D1S8, D7S21 and D16S309.

A 33 bp minisatellite repeat upstream of the ‘mutated in colon cancer’ gene at chromosome 5q21

ELECTROPHORESIS, 1998
AbstractWe have found a 33 bp minisatellite repeat in the 5′‐flanking region of the mutated in colon cancer (MCC) gene at chromosome 5q21. Southern blot experiments demonstrated the locus specificity of the repeat. The number of repeat units varied between 5 and 11 with a heterozygosity of 0.56.
