Inhibition and young children's performance on the Tower of London task [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Young children, when performing problem solving tasks, show a tendency to break task rules and produce incomplete solutions. We propose that this tendency can be explained by understanding problem solving within the context of the development of ...

Robust Adaptive Speed Control for the DC Motor Based on a Modified MRAC

open access: yesCommunications
The aim of this research was to develop a high performance adaptive control strategy based on the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) approach, using the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) law rule as an adjustment mechanism to control the ...

Interpolating the Nucleon's Spin-Dependent Sum Rules at High and Low Energies

open access: yes, 1993
I discuss a few interpolating sum rules for spin structure functions of the nucleon. Using the concept of duality, I argue that the $G_1$ sum rule, including the elastic contribution, is useful for learning higher twist matrix elements of the nucleon ...

On the nature of the Mott transition in multiorbital systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We analyze the nature of Mott metal-insulator transition in multiorbital systems using dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). The auxiliary multiorbital quantum impurity problem is solved using continuous time quantum Monte Carlo (CTQMC) and the ...

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

A Comparative Study of Control Methods for X3D Quadrotor Feedback Trajectory Control

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), particularly quadrotor, have seen steady growth in use over the last several decades. The quadrotor is an under-actuated nonlinear system with few actuators in comparison to the degree of freedom (DOF); hence, stabilizing

Personalizing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship: Adapting Training for the Next Generation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

Optimizing the Detection of Characteristic Waves in ECG Based on Processing Methods Combinations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Accurate detection of characteristic electrocardiogram (ECG) waves is necessary for ECG analysis and interpretation. In this paper, we distinguish four processing steps of detection algorithms: noise and artifacts reduction, transformations, fiducial ...

Chiral-Symmetry and Strange Four-Quark Matrix Elements

open access: yes, 1993
We consider the matrix elements of the left-handed flavor-conserving four-quark operators in the nucleon and pion states. Using chiral symmetry, we derive relationships among these matrix elements.
