Perspective Chapter: Mixed-Mode Chromatography
In this chapter, we present mixed-mode stationary phases and their applications in the determination of nonpolar, polar, and charged compounds, as well as larger molecules such as peptides or proteins using a single column. Mixed-mode chromatography (MMC) has been growing rapidly in recent years, owing to the new generation of mixed-mode stationary ...

Determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [PDF]
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in soil samples from forty different locations in Vojvodina. The samples were Soxhlet extracted cleaned-up and analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in the selected ion ...

Isolation of amyloidogenic aggregates of transthyretin by ceramic hydroxyapatite chromatography
Amyloidogenic proteins can lapse into unstable monomeric precursors which misfold and self-assemble into toxic oligomers and amyloid aggregates leading to intracellular deposition of insoluble amyloid fibrils, the hallmark of amyloidosis and major ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Curve fitting of mixed-mode isopachics
Recent work has focused on exploiting the observation that the stress-sum contours (isopachics), obtained from TSA, in the vicinity of the tip take the form of a simple curve – the cardioid.
