Towards Temporal and Spatial Isolation in Memory Hierarchies for Mixed-Criticality Systems with Hypervisors

open access: yes, 2013
In mixed-criticality systems, applications with different levels of criticality are integrated on the same computational platform. Without a proper isolation of the different applications of such a mixed-criticality system certification gets ...

Mixed-Criticality Scheduling with I/O [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper addresses the problem of scheduling tasks with different criticality levels in the presence of I/O requests. In mixed-criticality scheduling, higher criticality tasks are given precedence over those of lower criticality when it is ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Ingredients for the Specification of Mixed-Criticality Real-Time Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Models for real-time computing are available with different timing requirements. With the ongoing trend towards integration of services of different degrees of timing strictness on one single platform, there is a need to specify computing models for such

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Multi-layered scheduling of mixed-criticality cyber-physical systems

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we deal with the schedule synthesis problem of mixed-criticality cyber-physical systems (MCCPS), which are composed of hard real-time tasks and feedback control tasks.

Improving Real-Time Performance Under Reliability Requirement Assurance in Automotive Electronic Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The architecture of modern automotive electronic systems is composed of multiple distributed mixed-criticality functions. The effective utilization of such systems with heterogeneity is hindered by the scheduling of multifunctions.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Self Diagnostics and Isolation Mechanisms for Mixed Criticality Systems

open access: yesJournal of Communications Software and Systems, 2019
Virtualization is a technology that is frequently employed in computers and servers to provide isolation for execution environments, and to support the execution of multiple Operating Systems (OS) on the same hardware platform.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
