Across all sampled ramets in a fragmented forest landscape, 83% were clonal, indicating that clonal expansion accounted for most of the present population structure of Wisteria floribunda. Compared with a continuous old‐growth forest, the fragmented forest showed substantially greater clonal dominance and spatial coverage by genets.
